Roommateless, Gameless, Withdrawals, and a PC?

Posted by jaydepps, 19 January 2009 · 212 views

Okay so for the first one and a half years I have been at college I had a roommate with an Xbox 360, but he flunked out this year. My Xbox 360 died and I am saving up to send it in to repairs, so it has been a rough few weeks. But, I've been looking more into PC gaming and I gotta say I am actually liking this a bit, not as much as the 360, but it is actually good. I have been playing some cheaper games mainly: Counter Strike: Source, Half-Life 2 Deathmatch, Half-Life Deathmatch, Vampires: The Masquerade, Dawn of War, Company of Heroes, and War Rock. I never really got into PC gaming mainly because my comp has a crap video card that was imbedded(thanks Dell). But, does anyone have any suggestions on some good, cheap PC games that I probably missed days of PC gaming? I played Starcraft and the Age of Empires series back in the day, but not much else. It's been rough without the 360(I feel like an adict now lol), but the PC fills in very well, and I have a lot more time for that thing, you know...homework?

sid meier's pirates is a really fun game.if your into puzzle's the peggle series is fun and peggle extreme is free on steam.another puzzle game is world of goo.there is also the entire command and conquer series they will run on lower end systems.
You can purchase an 8800gts for around $80 on newegg, a card like that will let you run most newer games of today.

Some old classics I like include the Battlefield 1942 collection (only $10), Halo PC, Unreal Tournament 2k4, and CoD2 :)
Get Shogo
First off you can score The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind very cheap nowadays (I think $20 for the whole set). Even to this day Morrowind remains one of my favorite rpg games.

If you can run half life 2 fine, then try the orange box. If not you can get the complete half life set for $15 off steam. Another suggestion is trackmania nations forever if you want a very awesome free racing game.
