Just announced Emerald Shores, my platformer for PS4/Vita

In short, the concept is basically "Super Mario World with a level-up system that determines your HP and jump damage." There will be 20-something levels, 5 boss battles, a bunch of secret/unlockable levels, and a Remix Mode that rearranges all of the levels to make them harder.

Planned price of $9.99 + cross-buy. :)

Here's the trailer:

So, after a lot of consideration and feedback, I'm going to hire an artist to redraw the art.  I hoped my programmer art would be enough, but sadly not. :)  The game will look veeeery different by the time it's released.

You're making the right call.

What game engine are you using?

How complicated was it to get onto the PSN Store?

Right now, it's in GameMaker: Studio.  It's been in development for a long time and switched engines twice, starting with PlayStation Mobile (C#) then PhyreEngine (C++) before finally settling on GM:S.

Not too complicated.  The most difficult part of the application process, in my experience, was getting legally set up as a company beforehand.

New artist has been selected. :)  A really talented dude.  The new art will have a very SNES vibe to it.
