The old days are gone and a new day is starting.

Okay. Lame sounding title... but I feel like it really clinches how I'm feeling. As my last blog from like a week or two ago said, my Xbox RROD'ed on me again. And I'm totally cool with that. But it got me thinking about what console gaming will be like for me this generation. I weighed out my options and thought about my current gaming habits and what not.

Last generation, all my friends had Xbox's and Halo 2. You could not turn on your Xbox without someone I knew being on. Now things are different. Hardly anyone I know in real life is on, and it's even harder to get "everyone" together for a gaming session. We've all gone on to college, have girlfriends, or are out doing things. So that got me thinking about the $50 a year I pay for Live. It also got me thinking about the Playstation having free online play. Though you don't maintain one user name, that's really not a big deal in the grand scheme of things to me as I don't game online like I used to. And if I do choose to, that would mean I would have to "get back into it", which is cool. But that means I need to find a hot game that people are still playing or an online community to game with. Either way, I'm needing to branch out and meet new people online, again something I'm cool with.

So after rambling and scattering my thoughts on the wall, I've decided I'm going to be a Playstation guy this generation. I'll still keep my Xbox, but I'm going to cancel Live and just focus more on their exclusives. All of this sounds better in my head than it probably translates on to a blog...

I guess I'm looking for feedback from CAG. Am I jumping the gun? Or could this be the better alternative? I mean, I don't feel "bad' switching, just confused I guess. Comments please! Advise me!

you're going to miss out on left 4 dead GOW2 CoD4 and World at War there so much that going to come out for xbox online co-op u gonna miss out
That may be true, but what's the point if none of my close friends are there to play with me?
My PS3 has a lot of dust on it, probably as much as the Wii. I don't think I've turned the Wii on in months, hope it still works.
What are friends?
best people to play with are other CAGs since we are pretty friendly amongst each other.
I know how you feel, except with me it happened last gen. I started off with a cool buncg playing Wolfenstein but soon afterwards, we didn't game together as much. I ended up cancelling my live subscription. When the 360 came out, I joined back up, but have not had to pay full price for it. None of my friends play online, so I don't know why I keep it, but I do anyway. You may not feel the same if you don't pay full price for live and still keep it. Just a thought.
I've been debating renewing my live account myself. I suffer from lack of high speed internet in my area, although for some reason Verizon FiOS available about 15min away from me. The only time I play online with my buddies is when I being my 360 over so I can use LIVE through their connection. I could see you missing out with Left 4 Dead as that looks to be awesome, but RelentlessRolento had a good point about playing with fellow CAG's. I always see posts about CAG gaming nights so maybe you should give that a try.
