I just finished watching the first season of Sailor Moon. Although the format of the episodes is rather simplistic, there was a lot more depth to the story than I would have thought. The ending (which I suppose you could describe as being "bittersweet") wasn't entirely unexpected, but I did not expect the near-final moments of the first season to be so "dark."
