Gwent

There comes a time when a video game has an attached mini game in it that gets me absolutely hooked. The first that I can remember was Triple Triad(Final Fantasy 8) and then it was Blitzball(Final Fantasy X). I couldn't get enough of these two games and found myself playing them as much as I did the main game itself.

As I started The Witcher 3 this weekend, I went through the tutorials and finally got my journey started into the story and what is looking to be an amazing game. Maybe an hour or two into the story I come along the tutorial for The Witcher 3's attached mini card game, Gwent. I play through it and beceome instantly hooked! It's basic enough to learn it pretty quickly but in depth enough to keep in interesting. I can't wait to see what awaits me in the world of The Witcher 3 but first I think I'll find some more people to play against.

It actually becomes pretty easy if you follow a certain path.  The key are decoy cards and spy cards.  The key to every Gwent match is garnering more cards then your opponent.  I always lay down as many spy cards as I can first round, and then I am ok with losing the first round if my opponent puts down a couple of cards.  usually by the end of the first round I have around 10-12 cards still left to my opponents 7-8.  then it becomes super easy.

I'll have to keep that in mind. I'll try and keep it challenging for myself but good to have a somewhat easy way out if I'm having an issue. I appreciate the tip!

This was pretty fun. I don't have much for cards yet but the second person I came across to play (after your meeting with Emhyr) kicked my ass! He had so many good cards that aren't affected by fog of war and such. I think I tried for 10 games or so and finally just gave up.
