Nintendo NX

Nintendo Gaming 3DS Wii Wii U
Nintendo,

Please make the NX the game console I've been wanting since the Gamecube. Make it a gaming first console and not a motion controlled, gigantic gamepad console that is being forcefully shoved down the consumers throat. Go back to what made the NES, SNES, Ni64 and Gamecube so great. They didn't have any of the gimmicky stuff to overcome. They were gaming consoles that didn't require any kind of motion controls or an oversized gamepad with a screen. Any kind of gimmicks these consoles had in the past were purely optional(ie: Rob, Mario Paint, etc). The motion controls were great for a family that wanted to play virtual tennis, bowling, baseball, etc. It's fine if you make this an aftermarket add on that the consumer could purchase. I work 10-12 hours a day and then coach football after work 6 months out of the year so the last thing I want to do when I game is go home and have to use motion controls or this over sized controller that wasn't very comfortable to use. With these gimmicks being so focused I believe is the reason why the Wii and Wii U are so underpowered. They scared away most third party support they could of had due to these I believe.

I'm not saying their isn't some great titles on either the Wii or Wii U because there is but that number could easily of been doubled or tripled. This is just my opinion on the situation and while some people may disagree with me and bash me...I think there will be some that agree with me as well.

i personally like the wii u pad, however i feel that it should have been some app on existing tbalets that can be used as a controller when running the app. Think ipad instead of wii u pad. However the controls themselves shouls be similar to the playstation which borrowed alot from the SNES so nintendo needs to go back to its roots.

The Wii U gamepad has indeed been pretty gimmicky for the most part and I could honestly agree that it was almost completely unnecessary up until now, but after picking up a copy of Mario Maker on Friday and building a few levels with it, I'm convinced that the gamepad is the best thing ever, at least for this one game. If more games would have implemented the gamepad the way Super Mario Maker has, I think it could be a totally different story. As far as level designing games go, the ease of use and accessibility of this thing blows games like Disney Infinity or LBP out of the water.

That being said, it makes me wonder if Nintendo could have gone with a more traditional control scheme and then simply released a "pad" of some kind to be bundled with Mario Maker.

The pad does have some good uses in a select few games like you said. I haven't had the opportunity to play Mario Maker but it made ZombiU a fun game and the off screen play is pretty nice when the wife wanted to watch a show on TV. It's just not a controller that is comfortable to use for any long period of time, at least for me.

I agree with the pad being bundled with Mario Maker as a thing that they should of done and just bundled the Pro Controller with the base console. They could of charged $199 for the deluxe in this case and sold more units.
