So I got the balls to try stand-up. One of the funnest things I've ever done.

If you are thinking about doing it and have access to some open mics, go. I'm fortunate to live in the LA area so I have access to classes as well as open mics, and without the class, I probably wouldn't have worked up the courage. The class I took also got me a prime spot at a very well known comedy club in hollywood so I had an excellent crowd to work with.

I'm really looking forward to continue with this, even it's just a side-hobby. It's also forced me to be more social, so it's a double win.

My first set if anyone is interested, NSFW, audio only.

I would have enjoyed watching that :D
I watch a ton of stand up. My dad and I used to watch the greats like Carlin, Cosby, Pryor, Williams, Martin, Murphy, and I could go on. I feel that watching them allowed my sense of humor to grow and mature with life. As I grew up I started watching other unknown comedians any chance I got. So I like to think that I know good stand up when I see it.

Your stand up was great. Obviously it's an art that takes years and years to get down. You seem to have a knack for it. I actually found myself laughing out loud at many of your jokes. I won't suggest anything to you because you need to find yourself, and your routine. Every great comedian has their own routine, and I think you could be pretty good if it's something you want to do. Best of luck and keep us laughing! :)
I've thought about doing it. I've been told I'd be good at it, but I'm more of a random funny guy rather then a material on a stage kinda guy.

Good stuff though, keep it up.
lol. That was pretty good stuff.
Is it normal for all the jokes to be so disjointed, or it just more professional to segue your jokes into each other? It was a great start, but after the initial set of jokes, it felt more like you were reading a bunch of single lines off a script.
I agree with what AkariK says, but it was still very good stuff. I listened to the whole thing and it was really funny.
Thanks for the comments guys.

The delivery style I shoot for is similar to that of demetri Martin, Steven Wright and Mitch Hedburg. Little use of segues if any and material usually isn't directly related. It doesn't fall under the 'bit' definition necessarily.
Who dropped a dook in the urinal?

What kind of person does that? !#$#!$!#%!#%!!!1111!!! Who pinches one off in the urinal for all to look at??!!!?!?!

...you know, you wake up and theres no coffee left, then you go to the bathroom and POW, theres a dook lying in the urinal laughing at you! WTF damn Al Qaeda terrorists!!

This is not a victimless crime!!!
good job man
Lol, good job, man. Keep at it, you obviously have a talent for stand up.
You're a funny dude, keep it up man.
WTF?! Why aren't you on Comedy Central?
props man! keep it up and good luck to you!
Wow, I fully expected that to suck but it didn't. There were some definite laugh out loud moments there. Don't give up because you'll only continue to get better with practice!
Good job man. Shows promise, got some good laughs.
I'll take a listen after I get home, comments so far are promising. I've thought about giving it a shot myself, but my jokes are really always situational...preparing something in advance would be weird.
nice to hear some solid parkinson's disease jokes, I was cracking up at the michael J fox joke.

nice job dude. some really good ones in there, and some real groaners, but in a good way.
Not bad, I think a few too many puns.
Focus on your delivery and confidence and it would be great! Those come with more gigs!
