2017 Backlog - Off to a good start.

Posted by Cloyd, in 2017, Video Games, Backlog, RPG 13 February 2017 · 2636 views

The past 13 days have been productive. I was able to complete Dragon Quest IV for the DS, and followed that up with Trails in the Sky FC on PC. Dragon Quest IV was not only the first on the list for me to beat, but became my first of the DQ series, and my first Nintendo DS game to finish. I also put some time into Trails in the Sky SC, Dragon Quest V, and Gravity Rush.

With Trails in the Sky FC, and Dragon Quest IV out of the way, this leaves Sword Art Online: Lost Song, Gravity Rush, and Corpse Party: Blood Drive from the initial list. I originally planned to complete all five games before moving onto the next set, but I decided it was best to replace a game when one has been completed. With Dragon Quest's selection for DS/3DS, and Trails in the Sky SC being readily available, it made sense that they would fall in line.

:ps4: Sword Art Online - Lost Song : I put about 5 hours into this before focusing on DQ IV, and Trails. Of the games on my list, this is the one I want to play the least. It's not a bad game, but it feels a little more "scatter brained" compared to the others. Of course, this is a Sword Art Online game, so I should be expected to be assaulted with campy dialog, and an overabundance of "waifus." I'm not going to lie and say I don't like it.

:vita: Gravity Rush : I just started this today and so far have enjoyed it a lot. The gameplay is quite different, and unique. I look forward to putting more time into this one. I only wish I had started it sooner.

:vita: Corpse Party - Blood Drive : I've put zero time into this. I honestly shouldn't have multiple handhelds on a list. Perhaps I'll condense it to three?

:3ds: Dragon Quest V : Seeing as I own DQIV-VIII, and IX, it only makes sense I play them in order. Of course, I'll have to see what the best order to play them might be. Any suggestions?

:pc: Trails in the Sky SC : I absolutely love the Trails series games and will no doubt love this one. I certainly want to finish this before Trails 3rd comes out. I'm about two hours into this one now. Hopefully I won't do like I did on FC and complete 90% of the main story, and then take a month break.

So the backlog battle continues. Hopefully I can keep this pace up. Slow, and steady wins the race, eh?

Gravity Rush is an excellent game. I don't have much taste for the more serious RPG stuff, so can't relate to most of your other experiences, but Gravity Rush is worth playing through.

I've been fighting a good fight on the backlog as well, so far. Haven't bought too much so far yet this year, but I've finished Saturday morning RPG (only the 3rd RPG I've actually played through) and Attack on Titan and am working through RE7. I got Yoshi's Woolly World from my wife for my birthday, so it jumped to the front of the list because if I don't play the games she buys me she will stop getting me them. So any game I get as a gift ends up getting a front of the line pass.

I got the JRPG bug whenever Final Fantasy VI came out on the SNES and never looked back, but I'm trying to expand my horizons and play other genres. I'm a few hours into Gravity Rush and it's been fantastic. The storyline has caught my eye, and Kat is an intriguing character. I plan on popping it in the Vita TV when I get home today. I laugh every time I turn my head while playing.

Gotta keep the wife happy! Mine doesn't buy me games, but she allows me to buy games, so I can relate some. RE7 has looked awesome and getting rave reviews. I'll end up getting it once the price is down and after my son is born.

Good luck with your backlog. Fight the good fight! You'll have to keep me updated on your progress.

Crazy, I just started Gravity Rush as well... not a bad game.

I'm just playing FFXIV every day until Episode Gladio comes out.  Wife is playing Uncharted and Horizon. I need to buy another PS4.....

Lol, I have the advantage of my wife leaving me alone and watching Anime. Funny enough, Gravity Rush is the only one of these I'm still playing. I've focused on one of my Shantae games as well as an easy 100% with Toejam & Earl.
