Shipwreck vs Green Screen vs Prototype 2

Posted by shipwreck, 31 March 2011 · 663 views

I finally got all the green screen stuff set-up and shot a little test video that I thought I'd share. Big thanks to MikeFightNight for all the video editing magic.

Things to fix for the next go-round.
1. Move the green screen to a larger room to avoid "scratchy patches" in rendering.
2. Remember to play to my left (the camera's right), so that the image isn't reversed.
3. Fix the settings on my camera to stop auto adjusting the brightness so that I'm not red.
4. Actually use my portable mic to record the audio instead of just recording it through the camera.
5. Talk faster and be better.

Nice job... Lookout Tosh.0

Though when you rubbed your nipples at the end of the video I did feel a little uncomfortable. Just a little...
Great first outing. Good job MikeFightNight. Looking forward to more! Everything you listed in "things to fix" sounds about right, mainly the reversed image and the microphone. "Be better" is pretty hilarious, lol.
@Tengaport

I didn't know how MikeFightNight had set-up the virtual studio so I guessed and held everything up to my right to be consistent. Turns out I was consistently wrong. :)
Perhaps the elbow patches are supposed to make you look like a super hero/college professor?

Good job, a little bit of practice and all the other stuff will come together. :applause:
Ahh yes, reading is fundamental - huh?
I loved the added bullet ricochet effect off the sweater elbows
A Wooly Pully, that is what they used to called those sweaters.
1) I loved the sweater talk! You could have a whole site just based on sweater reviews!

2) The "Kevlar elbows" bit was hilarious!

3) I love the retro intro! (Though it seemed a bit weird that it was 16:9 instead of 4:3.)

A couple other little editing quibbles to augment what is already a pretty fantastic first shot at this.

1) You shouldn't be zoomed into the trailer and talking. (Unless you're talking about the trailer.) Years of videogames and internet have destroyed my ability to pay attention to two things at once.

2) When you zoomed back out of the video you should have muted the trailer's audio. I found it too distracting to pay attention to the funny sweater talk while there were explosions and dramatic voiceovers going on in the background.
Excellent! Well done!
Shipwreck, going commando, 2011!

Fun video.
I am sure Mike could have flipped the "studio" easily to match your video versus having you be Bizarro Shipwreck. Intro may have been a tad too long. Not sure what the Internet has done to the short film to make a 30 second film with a 15 second intro. Otherwise, good video.

I agree with Emu, either you talk over the trailer as it plays in the background or when it comes fullscreen you stop talking until it is over. Think of talk show when a guest is showing a clip. You set it up prior and discuss after, not during.
"3. Fix the settings on my camera to stop auto adjusting the brightness so that I'm not red."

But you are red!
@angryemu

The only reason I zoomed in on the trailer was to show Shipwreck what it would look like when I did so.

And I felt the same way about the trailer audio over the sweater talk. I only really noticed it after it was done rendering and just decided to do better next time.

Thanks for the input everyone, this was just suppose to be a screentest for Shipwreck to see, but he liked it and decided to post it here. I will also try to be better next time;)
Me Hate BIZARRO SHIPWRECK! Not Good. Me will watch MORE. HELLO.
Bullet ricochet was awesome.
Nice beta test :)

Keep em coming!
I'm glad no one walked in on me watching this video.
I honestly think a super hero with bullet proof elbows would make a great game. Your on to something Shipwreck!
Commando/Military sweaters are real things, they didn't just make them up as promo items. You should be able to spot some at your local army surplus store. As far as the point of the patches, you've got me there. :) Maybe to limit friction on the shoulders from backpack straps and to prevent wear and tear when crawling?
