800 Coins Have Been Redeemed - Club Nintendo Launches in North America

Posted by shipwreck, 16 December 2008 · 600 views

I awoke this morning to find the North American Club Nintendo had finally gone live. After rummaging through the basement I was able to gather up 820 Coins worth of unregistered games. (Actually there were more, but only certain games count towards Coins - see the FAQ on the Club Nintendo site for details.)

And wouldn't you know it, the Game & Watch Collection is available for 800 Coins. There's also some nice playing cards and other Nintendo themed items up there, but I went ahead and ordered the DS game. For those wondering, you get 50 Coins for each qualifying Wii game, 30 Coins for DS games, and a whopping 80 Coins for Wii Fit.

I'm sure we're all glad that we finally have a site to use all those registration codes that have been packed in with Nintendo games for years. The site is not quite fully operational, as they are adding a section for you to earn points by indicating games that you plan on buying, but it's working well enough to start entering codes and claiming prizes. Just be warned that you may get logged out a lot - I know I did.

Update: Although Nintendo's website is still acting a little wonky, it appears that you will indeed get credit for all qualifying games you have registered in the past. You will just need to complete the surveys that accompany those games. It's hit or miss whether those will currently show up for you, but give the site some time to get the kinks worked out.

I did some rummaging through my closet and found a TON of registration numbers. Unfortunately for me, I'm only at 620 coins so no G&WC.:cry::cry:

I've got over 2 dozen Virtual Console games and none of them can get me any coins. If they did, I'd have enough for it.:wall:
I still can't find a list of games that apply for this :-(
Dingleberry, go to the FAQ page and then check under "registering games" or something along those lines.
So none of the games I've already registered on My Nintendo get converted to coins?
@ Radjago:

That would be very messed up. I also have the same question.
As of right now previously registered games do not earn you Coins.
This is only for wii and DS...I was going to bust out my NES manuals.
No Gamecube games? I haven't gone to the next gen on the Nintendo side yet.
I'll try to register as much stuff as possible now.

Oh that is BS! For a long time, I had religiously registered every game I bought. Oh well, I guess there is no reason for me to care about Club Nintendo at this point. Lord knows I haven't bought a Nintendo game in six months and don't see myself buying another for a good while.
My problem is that I've registered three games so far, and only 1 is giving me coins. The first two games I registered went through, and now they've disappeared from my list. >_<
Well it's pretty darn stupid that none of my previously registered games/consoles earn me coins... considering I have probably 50 DS/Wii games registered previously.

Lame.
I guess I don't understand what it is from the description. What is the Game & Watch collection?
Wow Nintendo, thanks for screwing over the customers that registered games before you had to bribe people to do it. That really shows some appreciation. I guess my current registered list of 70+ games and systems means nothing. Should have waited for them to start paying out. Live and learn.
I hope they put up those Super Famicom controllers for Wii like they did in Japan. That'd be freakin sweeeet!
Man major league fail Nintendo. I registered all my games and hardware, and now you shaft me by not counting them as coins? Are you trying to drive me away? Because you are doing a really good job.
Really wishing I didn't register my old stuff.
Wow, have to re-register old stuff? I threw out the registration papers when I did that the first time. What a bitch.
Also, in transferring my account from old My Nintendo to Club Nintendo its not letting me login. Sigh.
Damn, I registered everything I could about a year ago. If they don't do retroactive stuff I've lost all interest.
