My Top 20 Rarest PSN Trophies

Posted by The 7th Number , 31 July 2014 · 2090 views

Playstation PS3 PS4 PS Vita
If you didnt know, the PS4 shows how rare a trophy is when you look at them. I love this, because its 100% accurate. Sites like PSNTrophyLeaders.com shows their percentage of who has each trophy, but that is calculated only by the users who are signed up to their site, not everyone who has ever booted the game up. So it is interesting to me to see how rare a trophy really is through the PS4.

Last gen i played most of my games on the Xbox 360, and most of the games i played on PS3 were exclusives. So i didnt have a ton of games to look through to find my top 20. One thing that saves time is you can click on a games trophies and hit the options button to sort by rarity rather than natural order. So it made finding my rarest trophies faster and easier.

So here is a list of my top 20 rarest trophies. What is your rarest trophy?

0.4% - Platinum Trophy - Assassins Creed Black Flag
0.5% - Find all hidden loot bags, payphones, and invisible walls - Retro City Rampage
0.5% - Get gold medal scores in all sprees - Retro City Rampage
0.6% - Complete all 90 rewards - Bit.Trip Presents: Runner 2
0.6% - Get a triple perfect+ in every level - Bit.Trip Presents: Runner 2
0.8% - Ace Cursed Bay - LittleBigPlanet
0.9% - Beat all levels on hard - Bit.Trip Presents: Runner 2
1.0% - Ace the Frigate - LittleBigPlanet
1.1% - Get three triple perfects in each world - Bit.Trip Presents: Runner 2
1.1% - Ace Pirate Town - LittleBigPlanet
1.2% - Complete the dark forest without getting lost once - Dantes inferno
1.2% - Reach level 55 in multiplayer - Assassins Creed Black Flag
1.4% - Get two double perfects in each world - Bit.Trip Presents: Runner 2
1.4% - Ace Port Royal - LittleBigPlanet
1.5% - Platinum Trophy - Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception
1.9% - Use every free flow gadget in one combo - Batman: Arkham Origins
2.0% - Platinum Trophy - inFAMOUS
2.1% - Destroy the Kraken Boss - LittleBigPlanet
2.2% - Complete the discovery mode of wolfpack in multiplayer - Assassins Creed Black Flag
2.2% - Get one perfect run in each level - Bit.Trip Presents: Runner 2

See, I feel more accomplished with the percentages from trophy websites like true trophies or PSNprofiles because the people who go there are mostly trophy hunters and therefore having a rare trophy amongst trophy hunters is huge!!!  Yea I have tons of very rare trophies through playstation because it includes everyone that has ever played it, but I know it is very very rare when it has a low percentage on PSN Profiles because those people hunt down these trophies and it is a hard one to come by if you get what I am saying...

You have a good point. Like i said my rarest trophy on PSN is Platinum for AC Black Flag, 0.4%. But on PSN Trophy Leaders its 10.3%, and on PSN Profiles its 7.38%. The rarest trophy according to these two sites for me is the one from Retro City Rampage, get gold medal scores in all sprees. PSNTL says 2.96% and PSNProfile says 1.97% for the rarity of that trophy. But i understand what you are saying, being a rare trophy amongst other trophy hunters is more satisfying than everyone who has ever played 1 minute of the game, including casuals who dont care about trophies, or people who didnt even finish a game. I agree with you on that.

That's pretty cool... is there a complete list of this, like for every game for all PSN users?

Vinny, if you go to your trophies on a PS4 console it will show how rare they are, every game, every trophy, even older titles like PS3 games and Vita games. But there is no top 20 list. I had to look through all mine and put them in order. Hope this answers your question.

Yep, that's what I was asking. I hope they implement something like that, that'd be neat. I don't have a PS4 though, I was just curious.:-P

Why doesn't the Playstation website do this? I don't have a PS4 but really want to look at those kinds of numbers.

2.37% Marvel vs Capcom 2: #1 in the Hood - 100 Ranked Match Wins

2.73% Marvel vs Capcom 3 Platinum

I don't really like the rarity numbers on the PS4 as much as I do on PSN Profiles and True Trophies, for the exact reason you typed in your first comment.

I'm pretty sure the PS4 rarity includes every single person who booted up the game for at least 30 seconds, and possibly may even include people who own the game and haven't even booted it up (I'm not sure if they've mentioned how their rarity calculation works).  I just don't like comparing my trophies to people who haven't played the game yet, to me that's pointless.  PS+ makes it even more pointless as it boosts the rarity way more (this happens on PSN Profiles too, but not to the same extent).

Not sure but these are probably pretty close to my top-2 (helps that I play a lot of co-op):

0.1% ibb & obb: Full Zen (5% on TT)

0.2% The Beatles: Rock Band: She Still Sings It with the Band (3% on TT)

It would be cool to sort all trophies by rarity. TT lets you sort by ratio, but of course it's heavily skewed by the user base.

I am a member of a couple trophy sites, but is there one that is the most popular?

Yeah when i was writing this i thought it would be cool to sort every trophy by rarity, not just one games trophies.

Interesting.  I'm someone who cares about and goes after achievements on my 360 and XB1, but I've never cared at all about trophies on my PS3.  When a trophy pops, I don't usually even bother to check and see what it was for.  I like the idea of checking to see the rarity of trophies, though.  This could actually make me care about and go after trophies.  I don't have a PS4 yet, but I'm going to check this out when I get one.

2.2% - Complete the discovery mode of wolfpack in multiplayer - Assassins Creed Black Flag

I'm surprised that one is so rare.  It takes maybe an hour and is easily done solo.  I guess it's probably because most AC players have no interest at all in the multiplayer aspect of the game.  It's sitting at 14% right now on TA (I'm an Xbox guy) so it's still surprisingly uncommon even among achievement hunters.

1.2% - Complete the dark forest without getting lost once - Dantes inferno

PSN Profiles has "Clear Path Not Lost" trophy at 60.83% and True Trophies at 78%. That is a huge difference from 1.2%. Which is "real"? It was "free or $5" DLC code that came with new copies only. That explains the difference of PSNP from TT, since TT only counts to overall % if the person owns the DLC.

But that PS4 % is crazy low, meaning a ton of people rented the game or bought it used.

Danimal, i used to love getting achievements, and still do with my favorite games. But what made me like sonys trophies more was the platinum. On xbox you could have 100% and then new DLC comes out and you drop back down to incomplete. At least with Sony i can get a platinum and it will never be taken away with the addition of DLC. I really wish Xbox One added a platinum type trophy to their achievement system.

thenutman, I really hate when games that are more single player tack on a MP, like AC, Tomb Raider. These games dont have that great of MP and it makes getting achievements/trophies for older games sometimes impossible. Its one of the reasons why i dont want to boot up Tomb Raider on PS3 that i got free with PS+. I already beat it on Xbox 360 so its not like i have to play it on PS3. But if it were just single player achievements i would play it and go for platinum.

Kazaganthi, yeah that DLC wasnt even worth playing from what i remember.

I can understand that, and you're right- they should add some way to signify that you got 100% on the main game, rather than make it look incomplete if you don't have all the DLC achievements.  It was never really a big issue for me for a couple reasons: 1) I almost never buy DLC, and 2) I almost never get 1000/1000 GS anyway.  As much as I like achievements and try to go after them, I'm OK with leaving a few uncollected if I feel like I'm done with a game and ready to move onto something else.  It does sound like Sony has figured out something that MS has not yet grasped, though.

Same, I was an achievement whore from the time the 360 was released... played King Kong just trying to get 1000, also got 1000 on all the launch sports games thanks to only 5 achievements.  But once I really got into the Sony echo system and understood the platinum I liked it a lot more than 1000 GS, I like the leveling of Sony as well instead of just straight points.  Been trying to catch a friend of mine who is a level 20, I do have three more platinum's then him, but still way behind in other trophies.  It has been fun trying to do it!

These are shocking to me.

I don't have a PS4, but I like this feature. I think my rarest trophy would be something from FIFA 14 like score a goal by using your butt or something since I have done waaay too much gaming on 360 comparably.
