I was running an AMD Athlon II X2 250 in my Windows 2010 Home Server since.... well 2010. I've had no issues with it, but saw this for a good price on eBay and figured why not. I figured going from a dual core 3.0 GHz CPU to a triple core 3.3 GHz for a low price, why not? I was able to unlock the fourth core at stock voltages on my MSI 870-G45 motherboard with no issues. I even ran a CPU burn in test and the CPU passed with no issues. It is a Propus core CPU that has had 1 core disabled. I've heard that some of these were Deneb core CPU's with one core and L3 cache disabled. This chip never had L3 cache. Unlocking was a pleasant surprise for me as I own a couple more CPUs that were potential candidates for unlocking that either didn't unlock, or didn't run stable after being unlocked. Anyways, it worked great with the fourth core unlocked, but it is now back to its default three core settings. My server has been running non-stop for about seven years, and hopefully it will run for about another seven years with this. The only negative thing I can think about this CPU is that it uses about double the power as the CPU it replaces. The original idled at 16 watts (800 MHz) and used 60 watts at full load stock (3000 MHz). This Athlon II X3 455 idles at 37.5 watts (800 MHz) and uses 105 watts (even though it's rated 95 watts) at full load (3300 MHz). It will cost me roughly $25 per year more to run this CPU than the original my server on 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, mostly idling. For a home server this CPU is a bit overkill. I might end up putting it in an everyday PC around the house. As a Quad core this CPU scores 291 In Cinebench R15, and My 3.6GHz "Quad" core AMD FX-4100 scores 272 As a triple core, this CPU scores 220. As a Quad core this CPU scores 3.60 in Cinebench R11.5 My 3.6GHz "Quad" core AMD FX-4100 scores 2.95 As a triple core, this CPU scores 2.73 All the more reason to use in an everyday PC. Stock it gives the FX a run for its money, and unlocked it soundly beats the FX.Read full review

The Athlon II 3.3 GHz Triple Core Processor by AMD is perhaps the most outstanding processor value found today for home based P.C workstations. The speed of these CPU's allow for great performance in single threaded applications and with 3 cores behind it, it can handle serious loads placed upon it when comprised of multiple tasks, such as burning a disc in the background while seamlessly streaming live internet video or web surfing. It performs well on modern games with medium settings and older games without a hick-up. I find it shines best when assigned an array of complicated processes including editing video or complete Photoshop rendering. At around $40.00 I challenge you to find anything that performs close to these AMD CPU's at twice the price. CPU World.com. Thanks jacksonman310.
