According to a report from ComputerAndVideogames.com (CVG), third-party manufacturer Logitech may be developing a UMD add-on for the PSPgo. Citing simply "a source" (meaning, take this with a big grain of salt), CVG reports that the add-on will plug into the PSPgo and allow users to play hard copy UMD games on the system, but no details on pricing or availability were given.
While the rumored add-on seems like a sensible solution to the PSPgo's UMD problems, such a peripheral would require significant coordination with Sony, which only raises questions as to why the company wouldn't produce an add-on of their own. Granted, a Sony-branded UMD add-on would be a public concession that the handheld is in some form or fashion imperfect, which is never a good idea, but then again Sony probably doesn't want Logitech reaping all of the monetary benefits of such a worthwhile add-on.
Curious, indeed. We've contacted Logitech and Sony for comment, stay tuned for updates.

UPDATE: We've received official word from Logitech that the CVG report is false:
"This is not something that our company is working on," Logitech's Sarah Youngbauer said.
