More specifics have been hard to come by and Microsoft has maintained its traditional stance of making no comment on rumors and leaks. GameInformer, however, reports that it has confirmed with sources in retail that a new Xbox 360 SKU has appeared in inventory systems that details a HDMI-equipped, 120GB HDD sporting, black Xbox 360. A release date is supposedly on the books for May 1, and price is set at $479.99.
The news is entirely unofficial and Microsoft has declined to comment on it, so it may still be some time before we have official word on when the Zephyr will see the light of day. A summer launch might make sense, however, as launching a new 360 version closer to the holiday season could confuse consumers and fracture the 360 hardware base.
The Zephyr 360 will likely be marketed as the home theater version due to its HDMI support and larger hard drive for movie downloads. The new black color scheme would also make the 360 more at home among typically black home theater components. The possibility of the larger 120GB HDD being sold separately is entirely unknown.
