Product Description

Mad Max delivers open world gameplay in a post-apocalyptic setting where cars are the key to survival. Gamers become Mad Max, a lone warrior who must fight to stay alive in The Wasteland, using vicious on-ground and vehicular combat against savage gangs of bandits. Following the theft of his iconic Interceptor, Max must align himself with a gifted, but peculiar, mechanic named Chumbucket and others to build the ultimate war vehicle as he works to escape from the dangerous Wasteland.

From the manufacturer

Only the savage survive.

In the Wasteland it's every man for himself. Playing as reluctant warrior, Mad Max, you must embark on a treacherous journey to build the ultimate war vehicle, and leave the madness behind.

Running out of gas is not just an inconvenience - it’s a death sentence.

Alone in the Wasteland with stolen gas for your Interceptor, it’s up to you to fend for yourself and fight off the deadly marauders who will do anything to obtain precious scrap and resources.

Where horsepower meets firepower.

Almost out of gas, but not completely out of luck, your Interceptor is your only hope for survival as Scrotus’ gang of marauders close in. Do you fight or flee? The decision could mean the difference between life and death.

The rules of the road are simple: Kill or be killed.

Scrotus and his gang are out for blood and your Interceptor. After an attack on your life, it’s up to you to defend your only means of escape. But outnumbered and outgunned, your chances don’t look promising.

The will to stay alive is your deadliest weapon.

The will to stay alive is your deadliest weapon. Overpowered by bloodthirstymarauders, you are left for dead and stranded without your car. With new dangers around every turn, it is going to take everything and anything you have to survive.

Deranged. Ruthless. Maniacal. And those are his good traits.

Evil has a face and a name: Scrotus. As the wasteland’s psychotic overlord, his thirst for blood is only matched by his thirst for vengeance.

A daring shot at survival might be the only shot you get.

Fighting off your enemies is just the beginning. Your struggle continues as you battle your way through the Wasteland’s ever-present dangers – all to build the ultimate survival vehicle, the Magnum Opus.

I can't believe Star Wars is selling for the same price as this, after playing both I can tell you this far outpaces Star Wars in every way possible. I mean seriously, Star Wars has as less content then just one of the 19 different territories in Mad Max; and no story what so ever!.. I'm a story mode gamer, just doesn't feel right without it.

The map is huge, free roaming is amazing fun, the STORY MISSIONS are incredibly well thought out - in my opinion a better story than all 4 MAD MAX movies combined. This is the first time I actually felt emotionally attached to a game character, most games you know its not real so you don't get attached, this one felt different (at least in the denouement of the game). BTW, its better if you watch the movies first, the story doesn't quite line up but you'll appreciate all the fine details even more. I like to think of this as a prequel to the new MAD MAX movie, makes the most sense though MAD MAX traditionally doesn't have linearity between stories.

Pros:
- Huge Map, in the end of the game you can drive from one end to the other and it takes quite a while, longer than a full loop in GTAV.
- Full of detail, each territory feels different for different reasons. From sea floor ship wrecks to collapsed highway bridges to Gastown itself its quite amazing.
- Interactive free mode, war party attacks, sand storms, loot locations, and more.
- Well thought out story, one of the best in gaming.
- So many details/Easter eggs brought in from the movies, if you are a fan of the MAD MAX movies you'll love this game.
- So many missions and things to do it will keep you busy for a LONG time.
- Almost everything you do is saved, I can destroy a vehicle in the first mission of the game and the scrap it drops is still in the same spot after completing the final mission. Incredible!

Cons:
- There are some bugs, on PS4 I get low frame rates and mismatched audio (only on occasion though)... personally I think this is more a PS4 issue then an issue with the game. A well built PC could probably run the game without issue. Unlike most games, there was never an issue/bug that prevented me from completing a task. I've played some games where you need to re-render the whole area to continue, this game just kept chugging even in the most intense rendering conditions.
- Some wasteland missions can only be played at certain points of the game, some have impacts on the finale... without ruining anything, all I can say is do the Wasteland missions first. Also, its worth it to complete each section of the game before going to Gastown, each section gets you upgrades and you'll be glad you had them instead of just blowing though the story mode as fast as possible.
- I personally thought the game didn't properly prepare me for the climax of the game, it was different than every other mission in the game, not a big deal just took me like 20 tries while all other missions took me 2 at most. I guess its better than having an easy ending.
- Subjective, this game took me 4 full days to complete (I like to be thorough), that's a big chunk of your life depending on how much time you have to spare to video games, it may turn off some players. I know some games you can do an all-nighter and finish, this would be hard to do in 3 all-nighters, maybe 2 if you skip the side missions

Added bonus - there's less rape in the game then in the movies, like there's really only one mention of such thing while in the three original MAD MAX movies they practically show rape scenes... at least in the 2nd movie they come as close as you can without being a full on porno.... just a thought, I did a MAD MAX movie marathon after finishing the game :P ... come to think of it I don't think there was any nudity in the game at all, not sure if that's a pro or a con....just stick to the gruesome killing.

By far one of the best gawd I've ever played for PS4.
It gives a full Mad Max experience for the fans who watched the movies. The game is fairly long and simple, fighting mechanics are awesome and almost as good as the Arkham knight series. It offered me great graphics and special effects like the explosions which are designed way better tha any other game at the time of Mad Max's arrival. The map is HUGE and made so well that you won't feel bored when you drive all over it, anywhere is a good spot to take a screenshot. The storyline is amazing just like a Mad Max movie. Although the best part of this game are the vehicles and anything about it: they look great, the customization is satisfying and the drivability is fun and easy, and I dare to say that it's even better than GTA 5 driving mechanics. The only, and I repeat ONLY thing I dislike about the game is the movement mechanics of Max, he walks and runs ok, but he jumps like an idiot, is f they added some sort of climbing options, the game could have been perfect.
Overall this is a game worth the money, I definitely recommend this game to anyone, for the Mad Max fans and for whoever is unfamiliar with such title as I was. Now I'm just hoping for a sequel.

I still give Mad Max 5 stars because I somehow love this game. It's gorgeous. The combat is solid and polished, much like the Arkham series. But Mad Max plays it safe. You've seen this game before. Unlock towers. Conquer camps. Kill baddies on the road. Collect resources. And all the time, the map is not only showing you where to go, but what to expect at each point on the map. I think most gamers would dislike a game that doesn't let you discover locations or unique encounters with NPCs. But I found that I tolerate this in certain games (mainly FarCry 3 & 4). Added to that, this game forces you to act and think like Mad Max. So like Arkham City, you are not role playing. You ARE the hero. You are Mad Max. You have to go out on countless drives, protect your car, and find gasoline, ammo, and water in order to survive in the wasteland. Again, this could really annoy players, as it replaces cut scenes with survival/scavenging mechanics. But if you love Max and get "into character," it is enjoyable. This game makes you work, and the fun of other open world games like FarCry 4 and GTA V is not here. But if you don't mind a to-do list that takes 30 hours to complete while acting as Mad Max, and you liked Shadow of Mordor, this is the game to grab now that the price has fallen. This game was slept on because it came out the same day as Metal Gear Solid V. But Mad Max is one of those fine games for the current generation. It took 6 years to produce and Avalanche gave us a game as polished as their Just Cause 2. Just don't expect to be surprised after the first 60 minutes. What you see is what you get. I still think it is beautiful.
