What happens if I move out of my region?
I just wanna know how this region locking affects the already activated game.

If I move to another country, will my region locked titles all be unavailable? If the answer is yes, this could be problematic further along the road (its one game now, but once you have 200 region locked games things might get problematic).

Any official clarification on this?

Depends on the region you move to.

♥♥♥♥, really? Wouldnt just locking the activation itself already prevent the gift swapping between different regions that they wanna stop? I really dont get it. Konami must be completely crazy.

Only the gifting is locked - if it's activated, you can play it everywhere

If the game is regionally locked also, that can get your account into trouble, not worth it.

I talked with Steam support about this topic once.
Every time you log into Steam the system detects your IP, ergo your region, and also use the region of the last purchase you made. If the game says, only playable in latin america, means exactly that, you have to log in inside latin america to play the game, if not, a message will tell you that the game is not available for PLAYING. If you move, you will have to contact support and ask then to change your copy. I am from latin america, and moved to china. Some games that were locked there are not here, and vice-verse, but the games appear for purchase depending on the region I log (when I went back for vacations last January the china restricted games were available for purchase). Once I even traveled to Germany and the game in the store were the german versions! So if you move, you have to change your copy.

That is total BS, once a game is activated to your account you can take it anywhere you want, you are just not supposed to have games not available to your region, which is an even bigger piece of BS.

Now that draconian publishers like Konami have begun tagging steam keys and gifts with the regional restrictions it is more dificult to circumvent such restrictions, something which is forbidden by the SSA anyway.

It's not just Konami, this has been going for quite some time. There are many region-locked games in my country, and on my account, not that I care. The only reason to make a game region-locked is if it costs less than in the rest of the world, so players can't make profit purchasing cheaper and selling for more. If the prices in your region are the same as in US or Europe, then, I agree, it's total BS.

I know is crap, and I also hate it, but it is the true. Go ahead, contact supplier, ask people who previous experience. A friend bought a game from RU, region locked with tag "can only be play (run) in Russia". He activated with vpn. Got the game linked to the account, but when he tried to play witout the vpn, the game didn´t work
