I was going to post the same question. I was wondering if i can get a steam key after signing up and applying the product code on their site

"Unfortunately we can not exchange your key for a Steam key as your purchase was a 85% off sale, which only applies to the stand alone version of the game. That said, if you mistakenly made the purchase expecting to receive the choice of a Steam key, you can submit a refund request to the Humble store via the following page: https://support.humblebundle.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and place the intended order after you have been refunded."

well, if it doesnt provide a steam key along the way its pointless for me. might as well wait for a bundle or discount on steam

i could personally give a damn about a steam key, the steam key is just convenience for me. planning on getting it later today though.

Good call. I eventually got my key but it turns out the standalone is extremely frustrating. First off once you wait around half an hour for the verification email and get to the account page to register your key, all the servers where the client and updates are hosted are made of cardboard so it takes multiple hours to update the game.. IF you get that far.

Turns out there's a bunch of login issues that have stopped me from updating the game where the game will deny correct login details at all costs. I timed my friend who did manage to get the update and it took him around 4 hours to get all the files because the updater ran so slowly.

(Yes, his general download speeds are good, that wasn't the issue.)

just bought the game.

registering and account was painless with instant verification
downloading the innitial installer was painless and fast
patching the game failed the first go for some reason, and took 15-20 min
patching the second time i wasnt at the computer so im assume the same time frame

and i dont beleive i had to patch the game to play it, but i wanted to start playing on the most recent verrsion.

the mmos that i have played from steam also dont get patched through steam, or you dont use the steam patches, im not sure how this game works on steam.

all in all, i payed about 1/3 the deepest discount this game gets on steam right now...

So is there an in-game updater of some sort since we can't get it on steam? Is it easy to use?

it appears to be a launcher like an mmo has, and than you start the game from there... just a heads up this way is slower than you would like when you patch... i dont know if the steam version has the same laucher or not... thoiugh i would say its not a big enough issue to warrant requireing it on steam.

iam trying to get my TUG purchase refound on humblebumble. I let you know how it works if anyone is interested. I was sadly one of those who thought it was steam sale over there :( :(
