It does seem to have disappeared from the store.

This is the dev's forum. Maybe some clarification will appear. Gone from Gamersgate too... I really hope this is update related, not plug pulled.

I've been skeptical all along that DF actually has clear rights to the game. AGEOD published WWI Gold, and while Calvinus says he sold all the rights to DF, it's possible that they weren't entirely his to sell.

I fear the worst, ,just thought somthing was just not adding up,here and there,
the ww1 market was/is being flooded with all kinds of "dogey products" the way some money making scams just pop up at certain times should realy have alerted us to the "smash and grab culture ",would love to be very wrong on this,but................
christ Queeg you have done a lot of work for this "game" too!
the lack of dev activity speaks for its self,
though the last time i wrote that he poped up making "its ok noises":(
I was informed this morning (for me) that some UK company is contesting our property. As a consequence, waiting for news from our lawyers, Steam has temporarily removed the game from selling (but it is still supported and should be playable here).

The action is legally unfounded, as we do own the IP on this game. We'll follow up on that and see what happens.

PS: Queeg, your remark is understandable by also unfounded, and I believe this is the reason of the action we have suffered: Calvinus was and always had the sole full rights and IP to this game, AGEOD never had more than a now-extinct non-exclusive pulbshing agreement (as had Paradox in 2010).

The action is abusive and we shall contest it.

Darn. I was about to buy.(top of my wish list) I hope this is cleared up soon.

Since legal actions are a matter of public record, are you going to tell us the name of the UK company who is the plaintiff? I only mention it because people will assume that it's a certain large publisher unless told otherwise.

Well, Matrix is US based and Slitherine does not sell WW1 Gold. So it's not that simple :)

Legal letters sent to various concerned companies. At the moment, we are waiting for more feedback from them. Will let you know (as far as lawyers allow of course)

When the game come back, please release it under the same APPID. Would lack of logic otherwise anyway!

Well at least you have our money to help cover legal costs.
Slider834 Aug 11, 2014 @ 8:47pm
Well, they don't have my money..lol. Obviously, it hurts sales at an interval of peak interest. (100 year mark) I hope for the best/fairest outcome...and quickly.

I think I know where the problem is with selling this game. It seems Ageod thinks that they still own the game since they are still selling the World War One Gold still although they don't own the IP to it anymore.

Link to Ageod store: http://www.ageod.com/products/384/details/World.War.One.Gold

and to the Matrix game store: http://www.matrixgames.com/products/384/details/World.War.One.Gold

Since this is about an UK company that means Slitherine (UK publisher) the owner of Ageod and Matrix games is disputing the IP rights to this game.

Since this is a thing of legal rights it might bankrupt Digital Froggies even before they started their old game revival project for real. I hope that does not happen since I would like to see more revived strategy games here.

Especially frustrating since AGEOD/Matrix ignored the game for years. It's telling that they only seem to care now, on the eve of AGEOD's new WWI game (End All Wars) being released - which, judging by some of the screenshots, looks like it will copy more than a few of WWI Gold's concepts.
