☆ This Facebook app has been updated! ☆

Once a weak app with many bugs, this Facebook app has been heavily updated from its Version 1.9.10 that I originally reviewed here. The 3.8 version (current as of this edit) says that there are "Bug fixes" but it's far more than that. This highly reworked update now allows for use with the following devices:

▪ Kindle Fire HDX
▪ Kindle Fire HD
▪ Kindle Fire (1st generation)
▪ Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone
▪ Android devices (Android 2.2 or higher)

Have personally tested it with the Kindle Fire devices and Galaxy S III smartphone noted above, and the upgrades are substantial. For frequent or occasional users of Facebook, this app is a good one, and once you've mastered the interface, which is somewhat different from what you find on a Web browser, it does a good job with most of the features you'll find when on your computer.

The improved
Facebook  app was developed by Facebook, and is just under 26MB in size in the 3.8 version. It downloads in less than 4 minutes with most devices. Once downloaded and installed, you'll have to enter your Facebook ID and password as expected, and all should go as well as it does with your computer browser. The News Feed is vastly improved, and the messages, which were an on-again/off-again issue, seem to function as we would expect. Your results may be different, but check the About section to see if you have the latest version installed.

If you're concerned about the various permissions listed on the product page here, users with a Kindle Fire HD or HDX may want to take a look at the
Lookout Security & Antivirus (Kindle Tablet Edition) app, and Android users should take a look at  Lookout Security & Antivirus . Both of these were developed by Lookout Mobile Security, and offer the kind of protection you need while on the Internet.

As the largest social networking site with over one billion active users, it appears that Facebook has listened to user issues and responded. It's said that now more than half of the the users on Facebook are using a mobile device, and no longer to we have to access the 'Net using a browser on a Kindle or Android device to get there. If you have an older version installed, be sure to upgrade to the improved
Facebook  app and see if that doesn't help. I did, and it now works.

I have some pros and cons about this particular Facebook app, by Amazon.

Pros: I love that I can stay connected with my old friends and family members that I don't really see very much. I really enjoy sharing pictures and seeing my friends post their own pictures of them and their families. Facebook is a great way to stay connected with loved ones, near and far.

Cons: The updates are ruining Facebook for mobile devices. I don't like that you can no longer sync your contacts and I don't like that people can review your edit history. If I wanted people to be able to see the mistakes I made when I made the original post, I wouldn't bother fixing it. So, it really bothers me that everyone can click the "see edit history" and look at all the changes you made from the start to how it is now. If that feature went away, I'd be perfectly happy. I love that you can edit, without having to delete and remake the whole post, I just don't like the "see edit history" thing.

Overall, Facebook is, hands down, one of my very favorite apps and I'll continue to keep using it, each and every day. I just wish that these problems would be fixed in the next few updates, but other than that, I love the app.

I originally joined Facebook (FB) in 2008 as a way to try and locate some of my High School classmates. Our 40th year reunion was to be in 2011, and there were 1200+ students in our class, and I knew that it was probably going to be a feat to do, so beginning early was to my benefit. Now, six years later, I have all the friends from our HS "Tree Tokers" (remember it was 1971 when we graduated) relocated, and I can say, honestly, that FB has been a true blessing to me and my son.
We live far away from my family and when my grandma died 16 yrs ago, I had nobody else that kept in touch with my Cuban side of the family, whatever the reason. I talked about them to my son, now a 20-something, all through his life, but was saddened that he probably could not/would not ever know any of that part of his family. Facebook, along with my detective personality, has allowed me to locate at least 50+ members of my Cuban relatives and now some of us are very good friends. I see, by interacting with some of them, where my 'pen addict gene' came from (one female cousin is as bad a pen addict as I am). I see my same quirky sense of humor in some of them, also. Some of the elders knew me as a child and I remember them, too, at least by name. It allowed us to begin to follow one another on FB and over time, and things that we share, we see that we have lots in common.
Facebook has also allowed me to reconnect with coworkers from some of the ERs of America from the 80s and 90s where we had lots of good laughs together, at work and after. We are all entering Boomer Retirement now...and it helps me to know, on a daily basis, that I am not alone in my dislike of growing old, that others have health issues beginning to bother them, too. My own family has dwindled over time. Only my Dad is alive and I have 3 siblings who are living but MIA...their choices. So, now, my FB friend-family AND my newly found Cuban relatives are our Family! It's been a life-saver for me. I used to laugh at people who couldn't go to a store or movie without their phones, but now I feel that angst when I leave and don't have my phone. If it is a true 'addiction' I don't see the harm in it.
If there are any real negatives to FB, for me, I guess they would have to do with the ads and the fact that FB tracks us on every word we type for that purpose. I have no subversive activities in my life and I actually have learned how to 'use' that fact to write about things I want to see as my ads and I have less to look up on the Internet. I can always click on the little 'X' in the upper right-hand corner of an ad and get rid of it IF it is that annoying. I know how to 'set my privacy' on FB so that only my one pix and name are seen by the Public if my name is scanned. Otherwise, I keep everything there to my friends only. It is fairly easy to learn to do these settings and I am very computer literate. So, YEA FACEBOOK...you have me til I die!

5.0 out of 5 stars Correcto, acorde a lo esperado de esta red social

Me gusta.
