Amazon fails on it's content to download

This is by far a waste of money for me. Everytime I attempt to "donwload" this game from Amazon, and the Actual game, they error out not even able to install...might as well save your frustration and either download it from steam or from the actual website. The game looks VERY promising and fun...yet the Amazon Game Downloader is a considerable item alone that fails and cannot recognize that you have the ability after purchasing the "full game" to download it..it only downloads games you bought recent, so DO NOT buy games all at once,...the Amazon program is NOT intelligent enough to realize that and you may as well have screwed you self...shame on you Amazon

If you like the Call of Duty/Battlefield series fast pace shoot'em up lone wolf kinda games then this game is not for you so please don't buy and only complain about it. If you are a history buff and like studying about the Napoleonic Wars and battle tactics, and want a game that is as accurate more so than any other 1st/3rd person shooter(Napoleon Total War with NTWIII mod is more accurate but is a strategy game not a shooter game) this game is for you. I love Battlefield 2 and 3, but I love the Napoleonic and American Civil War games better. For years I have been looking for a game which is really historically accurate 1st/3rd person shooter but only found the History Channel Civil War Divided Nation (worked on my Windows XP computer but not my new one with Windows 7) and the sequel History Channel Civil War Secret Missions. Both of those while having some historical value aren't near accurate at all.

All that being said I was looking for a game where I can be in 1st person mode and can be in a line of battle formation like those of the Napoleonic Wars and have a large amount of teammates and a large number of enemies and just go at hoping you don't get knocked out of the battle for that round. After searching and searching I found the Mount and Blade Warband game with the Mount and Musket mod. After wanting so bad to find a game like it and not be a not so great mod I found nothing. I checked back to see if the Mount and Blade Warband mod had been updated and more stable to find out it was made into this Napoleonic Wars DLC. I got Mount and Blade Warband and this at the same time, and love the Napoleonic Wars DLC a lot. Heck I haven't even tried the original Mount and Blade Warband game. You have the line battles, play siege maps where you have one team defending a fort both big and small and the defenders only have 5 lives each and the attackers have unlimited lives making it look like a bigger force trying to take a fort with a smaller force defending it. Both the attackers and defenders win an equal amount of time. The line battles are set up to where it you are shot you are out for the rest of that round. This brings the anticipation of hoping the next enemy volley doesn't hit you (though not as much as the people who fought and died in real life). The line battles in this game sometime has up to 200 people 100 on each side paying as infantry, cavalry and artillery. These are just a few options available in this DLC.

So now what it comes down to is if you prefer the fast pace lone wolf Battlefield/Call of Duty games don't buy this games due to it isn't a game where you can be the lone wolf and make it. If you buy it expecting that then you will be sadly disappointed and only complain. If you are like me in that though you love the Call of Duty and Battlefield series, but really want a realistic Napoleonic Wars game in both tactics and numbers then get this game because it rocks. Plus you can even join a regiment (clans in most games) that strive work like regiments did back then instead of the clans in other games where you are just expected to work with the other clan members and when you cheat in your clan supported server it is overlooked. Most regiments here are strict on the conduct of the regiment members and make the act the way the real regiments did in both conduct and tactics.

This game is super awesome for the people wanting to fight like what was done in the Napoleonic era without actually dying in real life like was done back then.

I've been playing this game since when it was still a mod (When there were only three factions instead of 5), and I have to say, unless you are planning on getting into the regiments in the community, you shouldn't get it. Public play isn't that fun in my opinion, and the game it self will get very bland after awhile if you don't join a regiment/clan. I've been in the same clan for almost four years now and I haven't regretted it.

So how do clans/regiments work in this game? Well obviously there are events. But not events just based on the skills on the players, but on their commander as well. Its a lot more complex than most games involving events. The events in these games are called linebattles, for obvious reasons being that most regiments fight in lines and use line tactics. If you have ever played Empire or Napoleon:Total War, think of it that, just scaled down and with you as one of the officers/rankers.

Most events have their own rules for each class, but this is a rundown on each class in a event AKA linebattles.

-Line infantry/Foot Guards
Line infantry and Foot Guards have to be in lines to fire, being shoulder to shoulder and either firing together (called a volley) or at will. Most regiments move out in columns 1 or 2 ranks depending on the linebattle's rules. They are the best infantry units in the game at melee stat wise (Foot Guards being the best), however you will find that riflemen or light infantry might still be able to beat someone in melee depending on their skill. They can also form some type of anti cav formation. For example, actual Napoleonic War tactics were if enemy cavalry were close by they would form a square, which usually was two ranks deep with the officers, musicians, and flag bearers in the middle of the square. However, not all regiments are that big, so they do something we like to call a "squarcle" which is basically a combination of a square and a circle.

-Light Infantry/Riflemen (Skirmishers)
Skirmishers AKA Skirmies (Which includes both of these types of units) are infantry units that were trained to spread out. The difference between the two in this game is that light infantry have muskets while riflemen have, of course, rifles. The only exception is with Russian riflemen, which can get both muskets and rifles. Some events might require a spread out line of skirmishers, or perhaps the only requirement might be not too far away from each other. Either way, they are the most appetizing targets for cavalry since they are spread out and perhaps even without bayonets. They can do the most damage at range, but most officers try to keep the regiment out of melee for as long as possible. This class, the same with Calvary and Artillery, might not always be used due to how many people are in the server. Line infantry is considered the core of all linebattles.

-Cavalry
Cavalry varies a lot between which type you choose, so I will go over each unit as best as I can with their rules. Lancers, Heavy Cavalry (including cuirassiers and Carabiners), Light Cavalry (Or Hussars), and Carbine/Musket wielding horsemen (Dragoons, Light Horse). All cavalry have the same basic rules. Some may require a formation while others might just want the cavalry to stick together. However, Dragoons and light horse are never allowed to fire while moving, and some may even require you to dismount and form a line, or a skirmish line (a spread out line). As you can see, cavalry is very varied and does a lot of different things. Lancers have a lance which has a very good impact on the first charge if done right. Heavy cavalry can take a bit more hits and have better swords. Light Cavalry have faster horses, but shorter swords. Finally, Dragoons and Light horse have guns, but their melee stats aren't as great compared to the others. Cavalry require a lot of hit and run tactics and can easily take out entire regiments without taking too many loses. However, they can also be extremely vulnerable, as they are quite a big target, so they should be always moving. Calvary might not always be used in a linebattle due to numbers, same with artillery or skirmishers.

-Artillery
Artillery is a new weapon in NW, and as such it is also very lethal with a very accurate shot. Entire regiments can be killed by one explosion, or one cannon ball. As much as there varying artillery, such as rockets and mortars, I'm going to stick to the two most used artillery pieces, cannons and howitzers. Cannons use speed and momentum to kill enemies and are also very accurate. However, as much as it will give you a guaranteed kill every time, a howitzer is best when the enemy is facing you in a line. A cannon is best when you see a regiment lined up like dominoes, in a column. Your main targets will be line infantry/foot guards, or the enemy artillery, since horses move too fast and skirmishers are to spread out for you to damage them significantly. Also, if you have nothing to shoot at with a cannon, try to aim for the enemy guns as they will probably do the same! Rules depend on the linebattle, and arty, as well as skirmishers and cavalry, may not be used due to how many people are in the event.

So, you might be wondering how to join a regiment? Well the best way to join one is to go onto a public server and look for a regiment that is recruiting. Then, see if they have a thread on Flying Squirrel Entertainment forums, and find if that's the regiment you are looking for. Some things to look for:
Is it in my region or close to it? (EU or NA?)
Is it a relatively active regiment with regularly attending members?
Is it a regiment that speaks my language? (Most regiments speak English, but there are German, French, Spanish, Russian etc etc regiments out there.)
Is it a class that I'm interested playing in? (Line, Cav, Arty, Skirmies.)

If you find what you are looking for, but still aren't sure, add one of their COs (Commanding Officers) on steam and ask if you could merc for them to see what its like, and also find if you enjoy the linebattles that NW has.

One last thing. There are some requirements for getting into a regiment.

-Teamspeak 3 or Ventrilo (Depending on what the regiment uses.)
This is so that you can communicate and/or listen to your officers orders in a linebattle.

-Steam
Most regiments have steam groups which post announcements about when a linebattle will happen, as well as keeping in touch with your fellow rankers/officers.

-Commitment
If you are going to join a regiment and find that you enjoy it a lot, you want to show commitment. Commitment is as small as going to trainings/linebattles to as big as creating a forum for your regiment to use. Either way, regiments are only fun when you put effort into them, either for the better of you or the community itself. Who knows? Perhaps it might get you promoted to a position where you yourself could lead a round in a linebattle, if that's something your interested in doing.

Anyways, I hope that you will become more interested in the regimental side of NW, and I wish for you to be on my side in linebattles!

I see that some people have had problems getting NW to work, so here is a possible solution that fixed it for me.

POSSIBLE FIX TO GET NW TO WORK:

1. Install Mount and Blade: Warband demo off of the taleworlds website.

2. Once finished, launch the installer for NW and see if it will download.

3. Go to Computer->Local Disk->Program Files->Mount and Blade Warband->Modules.

4. Copy/Paste the Napoleonic Wars folder into your steam version of Mount and Blade Warband in the modules folder(Program Files->steam->steamapps->common->mountblade warband->modules)

5. Launch Mount and Blade: Warband off of steam and select Napoleonic Wars under the modules tab.

6. If it works, find a server to join and copy/paste your amazon key for NW under something like *Enter serial key. (Note: It will pop up once you click on join server once you have selected a server to join.)

7. If everything is well, enjoy the game!

*Note: If the servers are say incompatible version, it might be because the Amazon version of NW hasn't been updated. The current version of NW as of now is 1.103.
To update, you have to do my steps again but instead copy paste everything from the new version of NW into the old version, and replace/merge all folders.

Good Game For People Who Like The Napoleonic Wars But Gets Boring Quickly

I was looking forward to this coming out but was sceptical because it was for download only. My doubts about this game were true. It does not work what so ever. I could only get the instant battle to load but all I get is artifacts and blocky shapes with error readings coming from the script location. I downloaded the latest update from TaleWorlds but it didnt change a thing....
