I think this is a great game. I have played quite a few simulators and I do have a pretty high expectation for most air combat games, but I knew this was a video game. The play, however, far exceeded what I expected.

My son, who is six, just watches me get through the levels so that I can unlock planes for him. I usually fly the configuration with the nunchuck and the wii controller. I works the best for me. I go back and forth between simulator and arcade style.

The levels are fun and intense. I am a big WWII history buff so I enjoy the intro movies and the different planes. I would recommend this game to anyone for hours of fun.

The game is pretty much what I expected flying-wise for this price. The graphics are effective, but not tremendous. The "story" and mission locales are pretty crude. There's Joe and Tom, etc., but you only hear them on the radio (repeating the same lines) and read about them during loading sequences. There's Midway and North Africa... The bottom line is that the game, though relatively crude, is challenging and fun.

The good: I am hopeless using simulated flight controls (the ground keeps showing up right against my face). However, there are several control configurations available, so if you can handle the sim controls, you can do that; if you can't, arcade-like controls are an option. The Wii controls are used to their fullest, I suppose, but I still prefer using the nunchuk as an arcade-like joystick.

The bad: The most obvious flaw is the lack of clear, consistent instructions. It takes a few failures to figure out what you're supposed to be doing and how to do it on some of the missions. Not a huge problem, but it is inconvenient and mildly frustrating.

The obvious: The missions are set in WWII, of course, and the "story" keeps you moving from theater to theater. There is some variety (dog fights, bombing missions, recon, etc.). It's keeping me interested, I suppose. Again, it's crude, but it meets the minimum requirement for maintaining some sense of accomplishment and some raison d'etre for the character.

There is no difficulty level setting, though, so I am now stuck on a mission that I fail over and over again. Early missions also required repeating so I could figure out efficient ways to achieve the objectives through trial and error. I am really stuck on the current level. I guess that could be called "challenging" and it's still fun enough to keep trying... over... and over... However, if I remain a failure, I'll never see another new mission. I guess that's realistic in that if I were a lousy WWII pilot, I'd die or be given a desk job. Unfortunately, for a video game, it could mean landing on the shelf and collecting dust.

Anyway, after each success, you get more planes. There are real differences in the handling and effectiveness of the different planes, but I wouldn't call this a flight simulator. For instance, taking off and landing is often not part of the mission; there are no speed gauges or altimeters. You speed up, you slow down, you target, you shoot.

This air combat war game is superb and feels like you are really flying! This handles great. You can unlock new things and choose from various World War 2 planes (some are even earlier), to go on missions. dogfight, duel, do bombing runs, and lots of other stuff. The graphics are great and the game is fun. It can be very challenging but that is the way war is and this is very realistic. If you like aerial war games, this is a good one that handles very well.

I bought this game based on the reviews of others. I'm not terribly impressed with the game, but I'm not disappointed either. I enjoy the physics of it and the multiple control options. For the wii, I honestly think it's the best it can be. I've played better flight sims on PC (Secret Weapons Over Normandy), but I favor those mainly because I'm used to the joystick. Once I become accustomed to a control layout on the Wii, I'm sure I will love the game. If you're on the fence about the purchase, I say go for it. The price is right and the fun is there.

I really got into this game from the first time I put it in. It is one of those that you want to keep playing for hours. If you are into WW2 gameing this game is interesting. It does have a few drawbacks, The graphics tend to be disorienting at times, it takes a while to get used to flying with the nunchuck, there are different set-up options you can choose. My advice is to check them all out and find which one you like the best. The game changes the flight characteristics of each different plane you use. So one might turn tighter during dogfights, or react quicker to changes in the flight controls. And a big difference between planes is the time it takes to pull out of a dive. Again you just have to try them out and learn how they will handle. The biggest problem I had at first was flying level and not pulling up soon enough to keep from eating buildings or trees, or the ground itself. Oh and on the very first practice level, when you try to drop leaflets on the church, beware the steeple, it has a very high lightning rod sticking out of it that is hard to see. It tends to cause an abrupt stop and fireball. I love the game, but with the fuzzy graphics and not knowing what your altitude is makes it very difficult to dogfight or make bombing runs. However I'm gonna be playing it for a long time, just because it is fun to play.
