I can definitely see why this football game for Xbox 360 is so popular and why so many people were looking forward to this release. Madden 08 is packed full of awesome graphics, and definitely an upgrade overall as far as the features (such as the training camp for your brand new created player, creating and customizing your champion ring, talking in interviews, hiring agents, and while on the field you can find out your players strength)! I've really never seen anything like this before. My husband has played a lot of different football games in the past (and I'm somewhat familiar with the different football games growing up too) but after I got him Madden 08 and he started playing it, I think this one just about blew him away with the new gameplay, and especially the very detailed graphics! I find myself becoming more and more of a football fan when I watch this game in action because I think it truly is amazing!

I usually stay at least two to three years behind on sports games. I'd rather get 2 to 3 games then pay $60 for a new sports game every year. The last Madden I bought was 2006 on PS2. I thought it was okay. I actually liked the QB vision and it was a challenging game. It was not better than NFL 2K5 for PS2, which I still pop in to play. I have All-Pro 2K8 for the 360 as well. The gameplay is awesome to me. I do not like the kicking game although I am getting better. I own Madden '09 for the Wii and Madden 08 for the DS which are both cool. I read Amazon reviews and looked at Youtube vids. I decided to go with '08 for the price and the features of the game. I am very happy with my choice to take this over 2009 thru 2011. I give Madden '08 the nod over APF2K8. The menu and the different ways to choose plays help you to learn alot about your playbook. The kicking system is a whole lot better than APF2K8. The physics and play animation, and gameplay have gotten a lot better as well. This game compares well to the best Football game yet, NFL 2K5.

Good - but AI needs work

Some really good features in the game and overall it can be fun to play. The fumbles are a bit much - as I cannot tell you how many times I have fumbled the ball - WHILE I WAS COVERING IT. Plus - the superhuman abilities of the db's and linebackers to jump 6-8 feet in the air to intercept a pass. I always feel like I'm playing against the legion of superheroes - where everyone has a flight ring, except my receivers. I expect an interception if I'm throwing into tight coverage, or double coverage, or a safety gets me on a cover 2. But to see a ball go well over the head of a linebacker on it's way to a receiver that's 20-30 yards away and then to see that linebacker leap into the air like the Hulk - AND catch the ball like I just tossed him an apple - is very frustrating. It works both ways I know - I've had the AI for my defense pick off a pass - and they almost always go back for a touchdown! How many TD interceptions do you normally see in a game? Not 2-3 per team each game... hopefully they will come out with a patch!
Other than the fumbling and the unrealistic INT's the game is pretty good - although I miss having Madden do the play by play. Why are the calling it Madden if he's just a tiny part of the game?

I bought Madden NFL 08 because it is the only NFL sim around and I wanted to have the most recent roster. Never in my wildest dreams would I imagine that this game would be so great. I popped it in my 360 and from the time I clicked Start till I turned it off I enjoyed it. If you want a true NFL experience this is the game to get. I used Michael Vick and he sounds like him when making snap counts at the line.

If you can get the game here for cheap then it is way more than your $$ worth.
