New comment: I've added some 'negativity' to my original review. See the last few paragraphs.

I've been playing GT6 for over a month now, and I am (almost) totally satisfied with it! (I'll get to the 'almost' part later)

The new menu layout is better, a lot of great new cars and tracks. The car's dynamics are more realistic (body sway when braking, turning, accelerating). Some great 'special content'; like the Mario Andretti Hudson, with apparently more to come in the future. A fun and addicting game.

While I was considering writing a review recently, I decided to see what some other people had to say about it. Curiosity just led me to check out the 1 star reviews. Most are unwarranted or just ridiculous; which leads me to have to address some of the following complaints:

'Same old boring tracks, same old cars': Not true, lots of great new tracks, and lots of new cars. And what was wrong with the old tracks anyway? Trial Mountain, Cape Ring, Eiger Norwand for examples, would be greatly missed if they were omitted. ( And hey Sony, speaking of old omitted tracks, how about bringing back El Capitan and the Seattle course from GT4??)

'No Amazon Pre-Order package as promised': I got mine. All you have do to is follow the instructions from Amazon, check your email for the code, Then go to the PSN store and use the code to download the 5 cars and the 1 million points. Easy.

'Can't carry over the cars you had in GT5; have to start over': How lazy can you be? In most video games you must start from the beginning. It is not difficult, as it was suggested, to get some good cars early on in the game. Play some of the seasonal and special events, and you get to own some great cars as a reward.

'Too difficult to earn credits to purchase new cars': While a lot of the first races in the regular categories do start with lower earnings, again all you have to do is try out some of the seasonal events, some of them pay off big time for 1st to 3rd place. And sign in to PSN every day and in a few days you're making 200% on your earnings.

'Using real world money to buy credits': Yes, you can buy credits. Seems like a money-grabbing scheme by Sony, but you don't have to go that route. I did spend $20 in the beginning, and was kicking myself later when I realized it wasn't that hard to rack up the credits just by having fun racing.

'Having to download updates right away': Yes, there were some updates early on. Didn't take long, though.

'Poor graphics': I don't understand that complaint; the graphics are great.

And for some of the most bizarre comments:

'Winning stars instead of trophies?': Yes, your progress is tracked by the number of stars you earn, but you still get trophies for every race you win. But virtual trophies are about as useless and virtual racing jackets and helmets, so I don't understand the complaint.

'The Go Carts are impossible': No, they're not. (They ARE difficult, though, and not my favorite!)

'Not in 3D': I agree that 3D would be cool... maybe someday.

'Can't drive tanks and helicopters!!!': You can't shoot people either, but I don't expect any of those things in a racing game.

The bottom line is that you can't please everybody. I do feel that most people will enjoy GT6. I personally am looking forward to the promised track editor. I loved it in GT5, but it was limited.

If I must complain, here is a list of improvements I would like to see:

More (and better diversity of) American classics: They've covered the muscle cars fairly well, but how about the likes of, say, a 55 Chevy, 34 Ford, or 63 Impala? And wouldn't it be cool to be able to customize them a bit?

A city street environment: Not just a course through a city, with blocked-off side streets. But something along the lines of a 'Grand Theft Auto' cityscape, although on a smaller scale. In 2-player Arcade mode, it would be a blast to chase your buddy around town. Oh, yeah, and add a cop car.

A 'Bullitt' chase scene Re-enactment: The mustang and charger are already in the game. Or, since we've got the Trans Am now, why not 'Smokey and the Bandit"? Or a 'Dukes of Hazzard' backwoods chase between the 'General Lee' and a 70's era police car? Complete with a jump over the river?

OK, I'm done now. Great game.

UPDATE ON MY ORIGINAL REVIEW: Still love the game after about 4 months now, but have some complaints: The new game seems to be more serious, and less fun than GT5. One example: in GT5, the 'racing soft' tires were more 'grippy', which turned some of the 60's muscle cars into super-responsive drivers, taking corners on 2 wheels. Not good for winning races, but good for a laugh sometimes. In GT6, the same tires feel not much different than the others. But here's the thing that really got me: One of the new tracks, Willow Springs, seemed to answer my main complaint about GT5, which was that the game always confined you to the track and you could never stray off into the surrounding landscape. I know the intent is to stay on the track and race, but once in a while it would be fun to just go 4-wheeling across the countryside. And Willow Springs was just that: I played online with some people who had some great 'tag' games going on, bouncing around the terrain and just having fun. But then an update killed that, and now going off the track just bogs you down to about 1 MPH. Fun gone. I know this isn't GTA, but I don't understand how the serious racing aspect was compromised by letting the cars actually move when they're off the pavement. I still love GT6, but find myself going back to GT5 often now.

Also, while GT6's time trial seasonal events are great, I'd like to see some actual new races included once in a while, as in GT5. I'm also highly anticipating the promised track editor, but am now worried that the 'no-fun-allowed' developers are going to tame it too much. I guess we'll see.

I must open with that I am a fan of the game since the first GT, I have all of them still (classics). I have beaten all of the games at 100% (jk, yeah right….)….. But, seriously I have enjoyed each one. Now for GT6, I will just put down some pros and cons that I like and summary after that:

Pros:
Controls- the controls seem to flow fluently and flawless. The response is good and right on time.

Tracks- there are plenty of these so you won’t get bored here. There are some new ones and some old favorites too. And some of the old ones have been redesigned, an extra building here or there or some background areas too. Even when crossing the finish line now, the winning checkered flag is being waived. Too bad the Top Gear track is not in this version though.

*new feature* one cool thing now is that when racing, if a car is coming up on your left or right side, an arrow will pop up on the screen to warn you someone is on your side (I race with the hood view so that is how I noticed, if you race with view of the car (3rd person), there would be no need for this feature).

*new races* 1- the Wood ledge uphill races are new and different. Here you get to drive different kind of cars racing up hill (kind of like the old school Pikes Peak uphill race). 2-race on the moon with the space car…. I don’t know why this is in there but it is different.

Online races come at different times and are a nice surprise too. So just when you think that you had beaten all the races….think again (Bonus $$).

*Concept car designed cars are a nice surprise too. There are cars that will be given throughout the year so you never know what you will get. Some of them come from companies you would not expect at all like Nike. So far only one has been given (12/2013). There is also the junior X2014 that is fun to drive and new in the series too.

Cons:
Car sounds- the car sounds are not that good….I have never really paid attention to this in the other games and heard grips about them but for this game, they just sound a little off. To me it is not a big deal but basically I put this in here because I noticed it this time.

$$- this area is two-fold, first there is the real money to in-game money purchase….this is so dumb…what is this, .. an app from the market or something (trying to make more money for the company I guess); second the money earned on the races are really low, one may have to be real cautious on making purchases if your $$ is low.

A.I.- the other races don’t seem that hard to beat. It is like they aren’t even trying but I am still keeping an eye out to see if they are getting harder. One time a racer hit the back corner of me and made me spun out of control.

Menus- The menus seem to be ok except there is a little redundancy in them. Like when you enter a race, it will have some information about the race you are doing….if you select that race, you will see that same information on the next screen too with a pic of the track. But one cool feature here is that now you can pick or change out your car from your garage now quicker. Just pick the start button and another menu comes out, here you can pick another car or can change settings on car (make purchases too for upgrades).

Car lots- There are more dealerships here because of the new cars added and they are broken down into North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific (3 groups). It is easy to navigate and see all the cars from each dealership but the bad thing is that if you do a sort for the cars, it is limited. If you are looking for a car that is less that 500pp and you are at the menu of the dealerships, basically you have to go through each dealership and look at the cars to see which one you want and sort it that way. Your choices for sort are years, hp….etc, but there is only about 3 choices and vice versa bringing it to about 6.

Cars- there are a lot of cars but the issue is mostly all of them are from the old games (most of them you will already know of from the other games, mainly GT5). Yes there are new cars and there are some really cool looking ones too. All cars are available from the start…all you need is the money to get em.

Taking Pictures (from replays)- pics can be taken from the locations that they have set or you can take a snap shot from the race you just did but it can only be done one way. When you finish a race, the game will give you your money earned then it will show your replay of the race automatically (can’t take snap shots here). You just exit out of that screen and when the menu is at the bottom of the screen (restart, record race, replay, exit race…), instead of exiting out if you want to take some snap shots from the race you just completed you must select replay from this menu then it has more options for camera angles (even from other cars) and pics can be taken from where you like. I just think taking a pic from this menu here is just a little off….it should be from the automatic replay of the race and it is not.

**Overall, great game…and great buy, recommended to all who race or like cars in general….even new comers. I am very curious about what and when other online races will be. They already released some and I really like playing the game, I am having too much fun playing. GT 6 continues to hold down driving simulation as #1 even though there are some features that need to be tweaked like filtering out the cars in the dealership a little better. It is still a good game and it makes a little jump ahead of the previous game…. I give it an 8/10 while pushing the pedal to the metal.

The product arrived in good time and as described, no issues with the transaction and seller. The game itself needs about 21 updates which HAVE to be installed 1 at a time following a certain proceedure. You are welcome to do as I did and think you know better by trying them all in one go, but this is a well documented issue on the internet that because of the size of the updates the PS3 cant handle them in one hit. I little googling will find you a guide to help you get the updates installed, but be prepared to spend a whole day sorting it. Once this is done the game itself is awesome, yes I'm impressed and yes I say it's worth the wait. Hope this helps someone.

Grand Turismo does it again...
Such an amazing visual experience... The graphics are so perfect: the light and shadow, the reflections of trees and sun on the car, the water on the track, the desert, the gorgeous setting sun....its an never-ending list.

The gameplay is beautiful... The handling, the riding experience, its near perfection.
The handling feels real.. The game physics is superb.
However, for some arcade racers, it may seem a bit boring... Drifting is difficult, you cant high speed turns like NFS or BURNOUT, etc.
But you cant compare track racing with that..
This is arguably the best racing simulation title out there.
