Was browsing around Wal-Mart today, noticed some sweet deals for some PC gamers.

Oblivion: Knights of the Nine Expansion - $9.99, came in a jewel case, retail is $19.99 everywhere else

Age of Empires Collection - $9.99, came in a softcover type deal, it has Age of Empires 1, the expansion for that, Age of Empires 2, and the expansion for that! 4 very awesome games for $10 is a great deal!

These shouldn't be YMMV at all, since they are in the budget jewel case rack above the games.

Damn.. that AoE deal sounds good. I take it you mean the Age of Mythologies expansion? All of that is definitely worth the 9 bucks.

Another note would be Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast for $9.. I often see it at Walmart, and buying it for Gamecube or Xbox will set you back at least $40. Great game, and people still play the damned thing online.

I don't think so - looked on their website, and if this is the same one, this is what you get:

Includes 4 games - "Age of Empires", "Age of Empires - The Rise of Rome Expansion Pack", "Age of Empires II", and "Age of Empires - The Conquerors Expansion Pack".

Edit - If you want Age Of Mythology, the JC version is $9.82 at walmart.com :

Yep, all 4 of those games - it shows a picture of all of them on the front.

I passed on it simply because they didn't have what else I wanted, and I will probably grab it at the other Wal-Mart I have to go to tonight.

Just note, again, it's ABOVE the regular PC games, all Wal-Mart's have a rack that they put their jewel case games in... 90% of the time it is shit, but the other 10% of the time there is some sweet deals in there.

These things don't stick around forever, maybe 2 to 3 months at the most, so I would grab it sooner rather than later.

I was at walmart and I saw the AOE collection thing for the $10 and then right under it was just AOEII for $20.

That's a hard decision :p

Yeah.. I could've swore that I used to see Deus Ex as a CD only version in Wal-Mart, and it just disappeared. Same thing with Ultimate Doom. Maybe they got a special distribution deal to carry the games in jewel case or something.

Still... that's plenty of gameplay for a cheap price. It's also some good RTS training to play through them, since RTS' seem to get more and more inaccessible as time goes by.
Full games.
Depends - Wal-Mart used to carry a Painkiller jewel case that was only a trial, or some shit like that.

But these are the full games, definitely.

And yea, Skylander, I got that Doom Collection from them for $10 back in the day... I think they are constantly getting new stuff and probably shipping back the old stuff, since it just disappears completely.

The Painkiller jewel version has 12 levels of the orginal Painkiller.

Went to a different Wal-Mart that had all the price tags out, but the games weren't yet out - sucks, but I'll go back to the other Wal-Mart for AoE.

I noticed these games had stickers -

Call of Duty 1 GOTY
Age of Mythology (Don't know if it's game + expansion or just game... because AoE just says Age of Empires and it's 4 games. If it's both game + expansion that is one amazing deal).

Both of these games were at my local Wal-Marts. There were some other great JC games, but I can't remember them off the top of my head

Which one had AOE available? I'd like to pick up a copy for use with my laptop.

Does the large plastic case version of Knights of the Nine have anything documentation-wise (manual, map, whatever) that the jewel case version doesn't?

I have the case version, and it just has a card telling you how to install, which I imagine is in the jewel case.

I picked up the Jedi Academy a few years back. Can't believe stores have these games for just $10.

Remember though, you can find this stuff at more than just Wal-Mart, if you want to avoid supporting them.
Why can't downloadable content go down in price as well as their store-based counterparts?
Probably not what you mean, but Steam is lowering prices. You can still go better at B&M often, you don't get the chance for loss leaders online as much.

He was probably referring to things like X-Box 360's DLC selection. The price never goes down on those things, regardless of time. Which is LAME! And ANNOYING. Thats one reason i hate the DL system on x-box. but, you do whacha gotta do to get the content....

Most publishers that have their own download services hardly ever lower prices. Probably because they get huge profit margins by selling digital content like that.

After purchasing CivIII from Fileplanet, I'll never buy digital downloads unless its over Steam.

I don't know what's up with that Age of Empires jewel case compilation suddenly becoming widespread...I bought it at my local Office Depot literally last year sometime. Now I'm seeing it at different stores. I thought it was old when I found it, but apparently Office Depot got it sooner than anyone else? :p

Don't feel like making a new thread for it right now, but Target has some decent $9.99 games too... I know the Target near me has Divine Divinity and Galactic Civilizations 1 for $9.99.

Too bad Target updates their jewel case selection once every 3 years it seems.
To anybody that has seen these, is the Age of Mythology pack just the game, or the game + expansion?
I believe it's just the game. I went to Wal-Mart the other day and they had Age of Mythology in the jewel case. I read the description on the back and there was no mention of the expansion pack anywhere.

Lame, but thanks!

If you want the expansion for AoM you'll have to get the $20 gold edition.

Just FYI, neither AoM jewel case or AoM Gold can go online through the online service; they all have the same cd-key which will not validate through the ESO online service.

Most games these days have the manual as a pdf of the disc.

I think the AoE collection is everywhere. If you want to save on tax: Age of Empires Collector's Edition

And for the AoM, which was released for $19.99, you can pick it up on Amazon.com too. Buy both for free shipping :)
Age of Mythology

But that version is apparently the one with all the problems. I'm not sure if there are 2 versions of the AoM: Gold Edition, but the Gold Edition I got a while back has a different cd-key. Check here for more information on the problem.

Another Wal-Mart $10 jewel-case game...

Bookworm Deluxe!

[edit] Never mind. I got it confused with Bookworm Adventures. Bookworm Deluxe is OK, but Bookworm Adventures ROCKS!

Went to Wal-Mart to grab AoE, and noticed Dungeon Lords Collector's Edition was in a $9.99 jewel case... IIRC, this game was a buggy mess when it came out, the Collector's Edition is apparently more refined.

Still don't know if it's worth $9.99.

Yeah, I was just coming here to post that over the weekend I saw the Dungeon Lords Collector's Edition in a jewel case for $9.99. I'm probably going to give it a shot at some point.

I didn't even remember a Dungeon Lords. When I searched Gamespot for it, it got a "Fair" review, and it says there are some issues with it. Maybe there's a demo?

When you say Jewel Case, do you mean the newer fat ones or the older thin ones? I really loathe the old thin ones. I'll also have to look for Divine Divinity at Target as it's one of the games I've been wanting to get for some time now.

By Jewel Case, I mean just a Jewel Case, the same kind that PS1 games were in, so I think the newer fat ones?

Wolfpup, you will need to find reviews on Dungeon Lords: Collectors Edition, as this is the version that has numerous patches and changes applied to it over regular Dungeon Lords.

Dungeon Lords came out and was a mess, they applied a ton of patches and then re-released the game as the CE.

Saw AOE collectors at Dallas Tx, Fry's

Also why is everyone excited about dungeon Lords. I just checked gamerankings and it seems like the bugs that were fixed wasnt the only problem

I was thinking of something else. Probably mixed it up with another type of case that PC games use due to horrible ebay descriptions. Thanks for helping clarify though.
