Was kicking around the Web, and noticed that Nintendo.com has officially dropped the last gen from their Website.

I tried to do some searches on Gamecube titles, but all the content and pages are gone. No more great Gamecube wallpapers.

Makes me sad.

I'm sure you can find the wallpapers on the internet. stilll, I am also sad. you see, I never had a gamecube, but I have a wii, and I bought 2 pre-owned games and a conrolller recently. smash bros and wind waker. both are awesome. oh well, the old website was terrible

Yeah -- I only got my Cube this past Spring, and have been enjoying going thru all the game related stuff they had with my kids.

As a Sony guy, I have been very impressed with the consistent high quality of the Cube itself, and many of the 1st party and 3rd party titles.

Sad to see it all tossed away so easily.

I owned a ps2 and loved it, but despite being a nintendo fan, I couldnt see the appeal of gamecube, and never got one. but I'm glad wii has gamecube backwards compatibility.

do you have smash bros? Its on my play list now, and I'm really enjoying it. just need to unlock mewtwo and mr. game and watch

yeah the cube is a good system. alot of nintendos exclusive properties are definelty worth picking up now that the systems dead . you can get many of the systems top titles really cheap like metroid or wind waker. nows a good time to get into both the gc and the ps2 if youve never had one and especially if youre still not sure which next gen game console you want. heres to hopin down the road they can come up with a handheld that can play gc games.

Not shocking considering the GC is mosty a disaster and probably the worst home console Nintendo has made.

Off-topic, but PIKMIN 2. Get it now. Play it now. Love it now.

Thats hardly a big assesment, there have only been 5 Nintendo consoles. By definition one of them has to be the "wrost". Considering the success of the NES, SNES, and Wii that only leaves the N64 and GCN in consideration for that dubious award.*

*Does the virtual boy count?

Is it a failure because it was profitable for Nintendo from the 1st day of its release?

Last report on MS was that the XBox 1 was never profitable. Sure, the GC did not reach the success of the PS2, but neither did the N64 beat the PS1. So, is Sony the only winner from the last gen?

BTW -- Already got Pikmin 2 and whole bunch of other 1st party games. Out of the roughly 40 games I have picked up, most are 1st party, with a few 3rd party standouts like Godzilla, Lego Star Wars 1&2, Soul Calibur 2, and Naruto 2. Most are put aside for now, things like TimeSplitters 2, which I want to be able to play with my kids when they are older, or the Harry Potter games. The Cube affords me a natural upgrade path to the Wii, so any investment we make will hold. Sure, there are some PS2 standouts, like Space Channel 5, and Shadow of the Colossus, that they will play later, but not till they are older, or I score another PS2.

problem is, I live in ireland. and over here, finiding gamecube games is mega hard. the only shop that sells them is GAME, and there pre-owned. I tried to buy prime, but it turns out ''they got the discs mixed up'' and tried to sell me resi 4. I'll keep an eye out for pikmin. that, or wish for a wii version

I never said it was, but the GC was a huge failure in public relations and the Nintendo image. Nintendo and the Wii have increased that back up to huge levels. So why would you want to remind people of the last gen?

And I'm not a troll, fucking ignorant thing to say. I have a Gamecube, I have dozens of games for it (they were cheap and kids love them), but there wasn't a huge hit for the system. Mario, Zelda, ect were all a lot better on the N64 and will be known forever with their greatness.

All that said Animal Crossing is a great family game, and F-Zero GX is the best non-car racing game ever.

Not to belabor this, but I'm not sure what reaction I'm supposed to have when someone says "disaster and probably the worst home console" when I post something sympathetic to Nintendo in the Nintendo forums at CAG.

I guess I'll just go fuck myself so you can be happy.

Meet the Virtual Boy...

Certainly a home console system because if you moved it while the mirrors were oscillating, they could be damaged. Or kill you.

i remember trying one in a store when they were preparing to be released. damn thing made my head hurt and all that red. i still dont understand how they expected that to blow up maybe if you didnt need the camera stand for it maybe but then again the lack of any colors aside from red........ sucks that that killed that guys career.

The original version of the "Virtual Boy" was much cooler, with a helmet and everything. I got to try it after Mattel dropped it and before Nintendo picked up the rights. If they had left it the way it was and brought it out right away in 1992 or 1993, it would have been more successful.

No one else is going to.

But I'm glad you said that, I need a new sig.

You reminded me that I still need to finish that game. I got to an area that was really close to the final boss but for some reason I stopped.
