Are you a sprint gamer?

I have gamefly and I also use Blockbuster to play most of my games. I really don't purchase a title unless it's a must-have. I told my girlfriend today that I consider myself a sprint gamer, I usually play a game until I beat it and then automatically lose interest in it and look for the next title to play. I consider myself a dedicated gamer, but I wasn't sure if anyone would disagree due to me not spending 75-100+ hours on a title. Just for example, when I play Mass Effect, I'll probably go through the story good and after 70+ hours I'll put in it, I'll probably never give being a bad character a chance. I know this might be a useless thread, but I think about useless things. Humor me.

If sprint gamer means I rush through games and don't do everything/all the extras in the game, then no.

If it means that I don't go back after doing ALL of that stuff once, then yes...I almost never get around to a game a second time (w/ the exception of RE4 which I started playing as soon as I finished it)

Wow, that's exactly the same thing I did with Mass Effect. I lost so much interest in it that I actually traded it for CoD4 just a couple of days after I beat it.

I'm a completionist. I try to play all my games until they're 100% done, though not always right away. I might play something like Zelda once, and then come back a year later to final all the heart pieces and such. If I don't like a game enough to complete, I sell it eventually.

So... I guess I'm the opposite of a sprint gamer?

I sprinted through the second half of BioShock. I found the atmosphere was starting to get a bit old and your character and his weapons will eventually reach a point where even the combat itself starts to become a bit stale due to the decrease in overall difficulty. So instead of exploring every room and truly taking everything in like I did in the first half I kicked into overdrive and just got it over with.

First I'm a sprint gamer, and second I'm a completionist.

Example: when pokemon diamond & pearl came out, reviews where saying that the story lasts about 35-40 hours. I ran through it as fast as I could and ended up beating it (beat the elite four) in under 25 hours. Now, I'm trying to complete the pokedex.

With most games, I usually run through as fast as I can the first time through, then I'll go back and do all the little extra stuff.

I'm pretty similar to the OP. I typically play through the main quest/story mode/whatever and then I'm done with the game.

For example with Puzzle Quest I played it obsessively until I maxed out my characters level and beat the end boss. I'd already completed every side quest, but there were still many items to forge and spells to learn. Plus there are 3 other classes to try out. But once I beat the end boss I didn't pick it up again.

I think I'd rather play something new and fresh. There are a few exceptions but for the most part I guess I find the main quest to be the most interesting part of a game.

Wow, I am definitely not a sprint gamer then.

I am not a completionist. I try to "beat" the game, but rarely do I go for 100%. If I beat the game, it's usually good enough. Heck, of all my Xbox 360 games, I have yet to max the points out on any of them.

That being said, I often will go back to a game a few years later. Almost any game that I really enjoy will get played again in some form. Also, rarely do I only play one game at a time (I'm usually flipping between 2-4 games at any given point).

Like right now, I'm playing through Final Fantasy X-2 for my second time through. I am also splitting some time with Christmas Nights (Saturn) and R-Type Final.

One thing I've noticed is that, occasionally, I enjoy a game more the second time through it. I'm noticing that with FF X-2. FF-X was my favorite Final Fantasy game, and in my top 5 for games all time. Playing through X-2 the first time, I really held it to too high a standard. Wit the replay, I knew what I was getting, so I let the game be what it is, and I'm enjoying it more. I was much the same way with Metal Gear Solid 2 as well.

I'm not a completionist, but I'm not a sprint gamer.

I'd call myself an "experience" gamer. I play the games the way I feel I can get the best experience from them, and then I move on.

I'm not a "sprint gamer", but I do finish my titles faster than most people.

Every now and then I'll love a game so much I'll go back, maybe try and get all the achievements or something, try to beat it on the hardest difficulty, but that's because I feel the game still offers a significant amount of high-quality experiences for me to enjoy.

Usually, though, after finishing a game, there are better experiences to be had elsewhere, and I will simply move on to yet another of the thousand games I have yet to play.

I have so many games to play, I can't afford to 100% every game, but I don't have enough money to support playing them all, so I don't need to sprint through them. I play at my own pace, which is usually just a bit faster than average.

I don't consider myself a sprint gamer. It's like trying to sprint through sex. What's the point?

Enjoy it as long as you can... provided the girl doesn't look like a horse with feet.

But now imagine you have a line of 100's of girls, each one hotter than the one before, waiting for you to finish with the girl ahead so you can give them a ride on your hard throbbing --- hmm, maybe I'm pushing the analogy too far.

I am more like a A.D.D gamer. I play something with great enjoyment until something new and shiny comes along and I move to that. Rarely ever to return to the past game.

I do that with a lot of games. I beat them and then go onto something new. I occasionally replay games that I really like, but otherwise nah. Kinda why I hate buying games, but for some reason I enjoy a game more when I own it. :p

For the most part, yes. I just play a game until I beat it and then move on to the next one.

I somewhat take my time but by no means try to do everything, and I don't care at all about achievements so I don't bother playing more to try and get them.

If a game really grabs me, I'll play after beating it to do more side quests etc, but I'm not a completist and don't make a point of doing them. Generally I'd rather move on to something new.

Variety is the spice of life.

I am a full-submersion gamer. I live in the game world; walk around in it like I lived it.

I forget to go to work, eat, or use the restroom. Since I don't eat, I don't need to go to the restroom. Since I don't move, I also don't need to shower.

Gaming experience maximized.

Yes, I complete Mass Effect in 31 hours and that took me 3 days. Most single player games I complete within a few days. I usually only go back and play games over again if they have alternate endings, DLC, co-op, or the game is just really good and I enjoyed it. Most games I own have some sort of multiplayer or co-op which gives me a reason to play them more then the single player, exceptions would be Mass Effect, Bioshock, Blue Dragon (haven't completed), fable, and kotor.

hmm... well, I typically get through games very quickly, though I'm not always trying to finish them immediately. I want to enjoy a game, not rush through it. I have a lot of games to play, but I don't feel the need to rush through them just so I can say I've completed so many games.

I like to think I'm a sprint gamer, but the more I consider it, I'm actually an ADD gamer. Which means I like to jump around from game to game, usually without ever finishing the game. This is only confounded by the fact that I'm a more Jack-of-All-Trades gamer (ie; I play any and all games & genres almost equally).

Joke Post?

It depends for me.

With RE4 and Ocarina of Time, I've done everything there is to do. I'm currently workng on FFX (catching all the monsters and such. Pain in the ass.)

With other games, I beat them and never play them again.

It really depends on the game. If it's good, I do everything. If not, I never play it again.
