So I don't have broadband, currently (it's not available in the area-We don't have cable TV either). But I was at a friend's place for two weeks, and was playing on Xbox Live. Never once in those two weeks did I play forza. I get home, playing offline, and try to play forza, but the game tells me there's a required update and I need to connect to xbox live to continue.

How the fuck did forza know there was an update if I never played the game, and why the fuck is it reminding/forcing me now that I'm offline? Now this disc is basically worthless unless I go somewhere with broadband and get the update. Being screwed out of my DLC was one thing, but now regular games are requiring you to be online? Bullshit.

Maybe the console knows you connected, and it remembered when you tried to play Forza? That does suck though. I don't understand why it would require you get the update if you're playing offline.

Btw, you don't even have cable TV out there!?

the xbox knows what games you have played and the last time it was connected to the internet it was probably "told" that the next time you play FORZA it needs to update first....thats what you get for tricking the xbox into thinking you had the internet

there's no excuse for this. in most games, when you decline the required update it just has you play offline. Forza has no choice but to connect or quit. Microsoft keeps giving me more and more reasons to hate them everyday.

And no cable TV, all satellite here. I rarely watch tv anyways.

You can get dashboard updates online. Maybe the same applies for games. Check the site.

You can also try deleting the Forza game files on the HDD and see if that makes the console "forget" to update.
Maybe trying running a connection test, then it'll know you're not online?
Yea, try that. If that doesn't work, then try starting the game without the HDD on, and if it works, see if you can reattach it and load a game save.

your gamertag got unlocked from your main xbox because it was detected on another xbox. en even patches are DRM based for some fucking reason. So now you have to be connected online to have the patch. i think that's what happened, not 100% sure

Microsoft needs to straighten this shit out. It shouldn't be this hard to play console games. fuck. I hate Xbox Live.

Wow... that's fucked up. And complete bullshit... MS coming up with ideas seems to always be a bad thing because it usually results in stuff like this.

yeah, most games work that way, but forza does not for some reason.

I thought about clearing the cache, but that would get rid of all the rest of my updates, meaning oblivion goes back to its buggy, slower loading self without any way to restore it. I guess i'm just dicked until I can get access to broadband. Thanks microsoft. You're the BEST!

I love Wii. No bullshit like this.

There is a money/credit glitch that they fixed with the latest update. There trying to keep cheating down. Once you go online with a profile even if you didn't play Forza it will not let you play the game online or offline until you do that update.

Oh, and there monitoring the auction house on LIVE too for those selling cars over and over for large amounts of credits so beware. If they think your cheating they will suspend your profile, and you then have to recover your account to play again which after you lose everything from the game online and off.

To do the glitch you'd need a new LIVE account that you never took online.
