BioShock FYE Deal - Buy Copies For Other CAGs

The purpose of this thread is to help CAGs who cannot take advantage of FYE's BioShock $20 deal due to lack of availability of store or stock.

As such, this topic will serve as the middleman in pairing up those who still need a copy, to those who are willing to find and but copies of the game for their fellow CAGs.

This deal will not last long, and an organized effort needs to take place to help all CAGs take advantage of this.

Here's how I want this to work:

I want all CAGs who are willing to buy extra copies of BioShock to PM me, and let me know who many copies of the game you have/can acquire with a trip to FYE.

Those CAGs will be paired up with those who PM me requesting to purchase the game.

Most importantly, this thread is not for profit, but to help other CAGs. As such, I believe the cost to each member should only be:

Game+Tax - $21.19
Bubble Mailer - $1
Shipping - $3.75 (First Class Mail + delivery confirmation)
Paypal fees - $1
Gas - $3
Total: $30

Give or take on shipping. If others want to give more, that's there perogative, but I firmly believe in the generosity of CAGs, given the results of both Child's Play and the "Donate Games to the Troops in Iraq" thread.

That's about all I have. If you want to be a seller or a buyer, PM me with your address, and I'll match you up as best as possible to keep shipping low. To keep this organized, don't try to deviate from the list, and we can get as many copies dispersed as possible.

Also, I'd prefer anyone partaking in this thread to at least have some decent Trader Rating on either these forums or another site that they can provide as evidence to their credibility. As always, trade only with those you trust.

I am looking for a Copy, but there are no stores near where i live.

I dont have a trading rep, but ive given away a few things and sold some items to fellow CAG's and well. I have paypal.

Not yet, go back to the thread in the VG Deals forum and tell them to ge their asses in here. There are a couple wanting to sell the game, but some are trying to do it for profit and honestly, that's pretty gay in my book.

man, i called up the FYE by me and they said they didnt have it in stock. he didnt seem to check very well though, so ill call again tomorrow, so keep me low on the list. I live in Illinois for shipping, and have paypal.

i'll call again tomorrow, but can't get over there because i lack two crucial things, a license, and a car. haha


most importantly though, is the deal still on?

I haven't traded before, but I also have a eBay profile with a very recent transaction (I have 17 in total, 100% positive feedback) on it for anyone who needs some reassurance.

I found an FYE 3 miles from my house, Im going to give em a call tomorrow and see if they are doing the deal or have any in stock.

However, I cannot ship personal packages from my Job anymore, the owners have been kicking my ass over Fed-ex shipments. So if they do have some in stock near me im going to need someone to help me figure out a way to ship these games.

I also have no experience with trading online, so ...yeah.

I'd like to thank autche (FL) for being the first seller involved in this effort, who went out of his way to buy 2 new copies of BioShock for the purpose of helping us out. Thanks again autche (you can also thank him for the newly approved pricing scheme in the OP).

If anyone finds one and will part with it let me know. I've checked two FYEs and both had zero copies...it's not worth the cost in gas for me to keep looking.

Agreed, this thread is for CAGs who can find the game cheap help other CAGs who cannot, not for people to take a game they paid $20 for and try to get games still retailing at $60.

If you want to help out, then help out 100%, otherwise take it to the trading forum.

trading a brand new game for a used one that has been out for months isn't exactly a bad deal, considering you'd get at best $20-25 in trade from EB. This is optimal because it avoids paypal fees. And you did refer to this as a trading thread. I tried to help out Dynasty1756 and sell him a copy for what I paid for it since we go to the same school but he didn't sound interested. If no one wants to trade I'll just throw it them in with what I'm sending to the troops.
 
don't bash the people trying to trade bioshock for other games because they got it for less than retail. somebody could very well have gotten one of the games they're looking for at just as low a price

I agree, but that is not the purpose of this thread, so it should be contained to the Trading Subforum.

This thread is primarily for CAGs who can get the game in the FYE deal to pass it along to CAGs who cannot, for the same price at which they bought the game. As in, a zero-sum trade. I understand that perhaps everyone cannot do PayPal, but keep that conversation to PMs, or the trading forum.

You do know that some on CAG want $5 on top of shipping and game costs typically for their 'time and gas', right? That pricing scheme will be shot down by some on here, I'm sure.

Oh and some of us don't accept Paypal AT ALL(as you said), so at least the 'fees' line of that pricing thing could be eliminated with us.

I'll check my local FYE's in the next couple days and report back, though I hate buying games before I have cash in hand from a buyer, out of fear of being stuck with them. If the local stores have any and any local CAGs want them, I'll report on the location they're at and if any out of state CAGs want one, I'll pick them one up.

I'm in Pennsylvania, btw. And, please, no one PM me just yet, since I don't have ANY copies in hand yet.

Had this moved to Trading Forums....can keep the same format thats been going on, but since its CAGs trading with CAGs (albeit with no profit) its still trading.

~HotShotX[/quote] yeah but your being a dick about it. Madden is a $40 (not $60) game (the one I most want to trade for) and there was some deal recently where it could be found for like $20. So its a even trade. Also I even said I would take used copys.

I'm being a dick about it because honestly, I consider this flipping, but instead of ripping GameStop or some other store off, you're doing it to other CAGs. If someone wants to trade you one of those games, or pay more for it (be it a tip or to help with costs), that's their perogative, and it can go in the Trading forum.

As for this thread, it's sole purpose is to connect CAGs who are willing to go out of there way to secure extra copies of a cheap and popular game, and pass it on to other CAGs who can't at no expense, no profit.

When I started this, I held the belief that CAGs are willing to help one another, and I still do, given the recent Child's Play/Iraq Donation drives. Autche is also a good example of someone willing to go out of their way to help another CAG.

However, in my eyes, you're just trying to make a quick buck, instead of passing along a game you didn't have any intention of keeping for yourself, so save it for the trading thread, eBay, or SlickDeals, it has no place here.

Exactly how much do you think is fair price for Bioshock including shipping & paypal fees? The guy asking for Madden isn't really asking for much i got it for $22 in December...Not to mention he would take a used copy...

Some of you guys arent considering time+gas+packaging+fees+tax...The peeps here offering to sell for about $30 is very reasonable...I could have made more money by just selling it on Amazon or Ebay but would rather hook up some CAG members...

If you read the OP, you would see that I said $27 give or take on shipping was reasonable.

Seriously, moved again? I can understand the move from 360 to Deal Discussion, but this thread isn't for trading games, it is to discuss the deal above and to help CAGs take advantage of it through other CAGs if necessary.

If someone's looking for a copy, I got my FYE to sell me a used copy for $19.99. I'd be willing to sell it for $28 shipped. All the paperwork and whatnot is intact, and the disc is in good condition. It even includes the slipcover. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

The pricing scheme is definitely off by some peoples estimates already. This is the way I would probably go about doing it. Although, let it be said that the guide deals I do are with shipping and a small allowance included and I HAVE done 'at cost' shipping of games before when other CAGs couldn't find them.

$21.19-cost of the game with tax
$2-bubble mailer
$3-4 - postage with delivery confirmation
$3-5- for 'time and gas'
____________________
$29 with the low end 'time and gas' allowance and low end postage
$30 with the mid range 'time and gas' allowance and $3 postage
$32 with the high range 'time and gas' allowance

When you consider that gas isn't free and if the CAGs offering to do this aren't going to FYE for any reason other than to check on a copy of Bioshock, then they are using their time and gas(assuming they drive). The estimate I gave above was only adding in sales tax on the price of the game itself, not the other items(and not included at all on the time/gas allowance).

Still though, $32 for a fairly recent game versus $60 many other places=a deal imo.

Just trying to be realistic and give a REAL estimate and using the experiences I've dealt with before of other CAGs adding the 'time/gas' thing to the cost of items I was trying to buy from them.
