I think this is my first actual deal that I have posted.

DDD or DD as it is now known, is having a sale on Universal HD-DVDs up to 59% off. Some of them as low as $12.20. I know HD-DVD is a "dying" format but for those of us trying to be positive this is a good deal and some pretty good titles are here. Hope some people take advantage of this.

Bahh! I hate seeing great prices like this on these HD dvds cause in the back of my mind, the little cheapass is telling me "wait, maybe they'll get even cheaper..." and then the other cheapass is saying "no, buy now!"

I dunno what to do. Still great deals though.

Check buy.com for the titles you want, DD has a store through Buy.com and it is eligible for the $10 off $10 GCO. Meaning you get DD's price -$10, and free shipping.

Not all titles will be up, i'm sure.
Damn! And I just paid $14.95 each from the Amazon sale!
ack, me too. I finally got my Amazon order yesterday. Oh well... it's about $5 total on my order, not enough to get too worked out over, but these are *awesome* prices.

nice.. finally can get 2 fast 2 furious and tokyo drift..

or.. could universal be trying to clear out :(

does b2g1 still come out cheaper?

DDD does it to me again!

The first time I ordered from them both movies I ordered said "Instock" when I ordered yeat it took them two weeks to actually have them to ship.

I look at my order I just placed and only one, Timecop, actually says instock and the other two will be instock 2/23.

I hate this crap.

I think i found a good way to tell which ones are eligible for the $10 off GCO. Any that are $12.20 & 18.30 "Low Price" (not "Our Low Price") should be eligible.

Army of Darkness and The Frightners should be must buys on anyone's list at $12. Cheapest I've seen for The Frightners regardless of format.

Is it too much to ask for Dragonheart to ever go on sale? It hasn't been part of a single HD DVD sale ever, I shit you not.

i wish i knew, the last 3 times i attempted to use google checkout i got an e-mail cancelling my order and threatening to suspend my account.... problem is, all times it was a new account linked to a new card...

also, just bought 3.... considering 3 more....

Not in stock for me either...but it says they will ship 2/24 which is still worth it. I just don't see any links for Google Check out.

Glad to see i could help some people out. I just wish my address didnt get Blacklisted with GCO. But as long as I can spread the happyness, i guess its just as well. Even at $18.30, some of movies are more than worth it.

Anybody getting any updates from DD on their orders? I dove in yesterday but everything in my basket was showing as not currently in stock but would ship around the first week of March. If production has been killed, are they really going to be able to get more in?

normally I would say to jump on Army of Darkness (one of my top 10 movies)... but Id wait until a better release comes out... look at how many times it was released on dvd... tons...

I made the mistake of buying a barebones Universal release of this movie the day I bought my first dvd player, and had to upgrade for the 2 disc "limited edition"...

If production has been killed, are they really going to be able to get more in?
I placed an order last night for three titles, Eternal Sunshine, Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick. Riddick was showing ETA of 02/28/08, other two were showing ETA of 03/04/08.

DD didn't auth my credit card, so I'm not out anything at the moment. We'll have to see what happens over the next couple of weeks, won't we?

The hardware production is being killed off by Toshibia..it is unclear exactly how the studios are going to handle software production (which is done at facilities not owned by Toshibia)...Warner Brothers has said they are going to stick with their end of may cut off for new product but said they we not opposed to producing more HD DVDs (already released titles, not new ones) if demand was still there. Given that both amazon and DeepDiscount are offering at least 50% off many Universal HD DVDs, it is unclear if Universal is merely clearing out inventory to more reasonable levels (Universal did the exact same thing with a ton of SD DVD TV show boxsets around thanksgiving) or just trying to dump the whole stock. But the deepdiscount sale is advertised as going on until some time in later march. Also, even at these highly discounted prices, it is likely that the studios are still doing alright on these sales (and still higher margins than on SD DVD sales) and this is an opportunity to sell yet another copy of the same film again...and given that the format is dead, they also still have the chance to sell you a blu ray version down the road

There are actually several pretty good flicks @ DD for 9.98. Had to snag a few at that price w/free shipping and no tax. Old School is a classic and had to get that one for sure.
