and it was the most peaceful robbery possible, it seems. I got in the car at 3am in Lowell, MA, a semi crime ridden city, and noticed "Hey, the radio's pretty quiet...let me turn it up. Oh." So my TAPE DECK was gone (thats right, my radio was a TAPE DECK, so that was worth, oh, $20). Then I get home and check and my bike rack is gone, that was $50, lol, and today I noticed they took my $10 Fake Oakleys that I use to run/bike.

What a weak robbery, nothing was broken or smashed, just swooped my radio, bike rack, and glasses. I had the door locked, not sure how they got in.

I was kinda bummed but already don't really give a shit. I have the receipt and everything for the purchase of the bike rack, anything at all I can do under insurace?

Last summer both my parent's cars were broken into, luckily we didn't have any real valuables in the car all they took were my mom's perscription glasses and some car wash coupons.

A couple of years ago my car got stolen. Reported, file a police report, etc. Insurance claim it wasn't really stolen and we did it ourselves. Car was found about a week later smashed into some dumpster. It was a pos car but needed it for work and school. It wasn't worth much, maybe a two grand at the most. Pissed me off since this is what we pay insurance for and they give us the run around for a couple months having to deal with it.

I can see insurance giving the run around. My car is a 94 Interpid, a true POS, but it runs, and so I'm happy it was there when I came back, at least. Just laughed when the SUNGLASSES were gone, haha. Damn.

Last summer my car got broken into (forgot to lock it) and unfortunately I didn't realize I had the valet key in the care =/ They took my car for a weekend and It was found the next town over on Tuesday (monday was a holiday). Besides fishbowling the care to death, making a mess of it, and leaving the care on E (I had just filled it up), everything mechanically was fine.

Good luck!

Around here, most of the time it's just high school punks doing that kind of shit. Usually people have a lot of change stolen from a cup holder and stupid stuff like that. Doesn't really surprise me that a $10 pair of sunglasses and some car wash coupons were stolen.

Without any visible sign of a forced entry, you are probably shit outta luck on an insurance claim. Never hurts to file one though.

I remember one time when I was running late to work and left my Xbox in my back seat instead of locking it in my trunk like I usually do. One of my coworkers was on their way to the parking lot and some teenage kid was quickly crossing the street. Turns out the kid had busted my rear window, but took off without the system when they saw my coworker coming.

Learned a valuable lesson about leaving stuff in my car (at least in plain sight). Nothing got stolen, and my insurance paid for the window. Lucky break...

A few years ago someone broke into my car while I was parked at Wal-Mart for 15 minutes. What's strange is that they just rifled through my glove box, but didn't take anything at all. Here's where it gets strange... Two weeks later my car is broken into at night while parked in my driveway, and it's the exact same scenario. They went through my glove box, but didn't take a thing. It makes me wonder if I was being targeted by someone who wanted something specific that they thought was in my glove box.

Did you have anything in your car worth taking?

Buddy of mine got his window SMASHED in and all they took was the change in the cup holder. Even better was that this happened right in front of work, IN BROAD DAYLIGHT.

I read this as "Cag broken into last night."

I had a sword (of the samurai variety) in my car, and when I woke up the next day, my car had been broken into, and the sword was stolen.

I never found out who did it.

^ Now that would be an interesting scenario if you were pulled over by a cop. "It's for trimming hedges, I swear."

I guess I should have mentioned that. I had around $10 worth of quarters in the ashtray, a pair of Oakley's that were worth around $90, and a few random CDs in the glove box. Both times the thief took nothing from the car. It really looked as if someone was targeting me specifically and was looking for something in particular that they thought was in my glove box.

My car was broken into the first week I moved into my new apartment. They smashed the window and looked through stuff, but didn't take anything I could notice. My insurance didn't cover vandalism, so I had to pay for the repairs myself.

Out of fear of the neighborhood I just moved into, I went ahead and got theft and robbery insurance that same day. Two months later, my apartment was robbed and they stole my entire 15+ year game collection. Bastards! The insurance couldn't cover the entire cost of everything stolen, but I would have been financially ruined without it.

The Morale of the story:
BUY ROBBERY AND STOLEN GOODS INSURANCE NO MATTER WHAT!

I got my car broken into in South San Francisco maybe 2 years ago. They smashed a rear window and took a big Nordstrom bag from the back. It had a decent scarf in it, but that's all they took. Not the iPod...not the DS Lite...not the real Oakleys in the cupholder. Granted, the DS and the iPod were hiding in the armrest, but any semi-decent thief would have found them. Yes, it was dumb to have all that stuff in there, but he was dumber, dammit!

Sorry to hear that, for everyone at CAG. :whistle2:(

I actually never thought of that happening to me when I drive around. I'd be angry since I don't exactly have a lot of money these days. I don't plan on keeping really anything in my vehicle, unless I'm traveling.

That's your best bet. Just keep valuables out, and lock the car and hope it dosent happen. And don't park in shitty places in cities and go to the bar and come back at 3am and expect it not to be problems, haha.

My car is filled with garbage.

I also have the Burger King Xbox 360 games in my trunk.

And now we move to the Lutheran Hour - even though it's only 30 minutes.

I wonder if he'll talk about how Darwinism sparked the Nazi Holocaust.

Edit: Yep.

Kind of off-topic, but about 10 years ago, a family friend had his car stolen. 3 days later, the car shows up in perfect condition in their driveway, with 4 Black Hawk's tickets, and a note saying that the robber had a family emergency and had to use the car. "Take these tickets as our way of saying sorry." While they where at the Black Hawk's game, their entire apartment got cleaned out. :D Pretty funny to me.

If that is a true story, that crook deserves an award.
