WTF: Amazon UK free super saver starts @ £5 ($8.65 US); U.S. customers get shaft!!??

I was searching for an old Rowan Atkinson doc and by chance decided to look on Amazon's UK website. To my surprise, I found this nice little note from founder and CEO Jeff Bezos to the UK customers:

I think that's nice, but what about us American customers!? It's not like the economy is going to get better any time soon, so how about some love for us, right? With this deal, a UK customer only has to buy 1 or more items that total only £5 ($8.65 US) for free super saver shipping. Furthermore, Amazon Prime UK might be £49 ($84.77 US) but they get the benefit of one day shipping compared to the U.S. $79 and two day shipping.

This CAG does not like!

At the time of this post, nothing has changed on the US site so let's keep our fingers crossed. If it doesn't change, what would you CAGers like to do as a form of protest? Online petition? Shop elsewhere? Other? I'm just ing pissed as usual on a Monday? Speak your mind.

1. The British Postal Service probably isn't insane.
2. The United Kingdom is a whole lot smaller than the United States.
3. The British pound in the current economy is worth about $728.

I wouldn't mind if we only had to spend ~$9 for free shipping but... oh well. They have to pay higher prices in the UK anyway.

CoD4 GotY Edition for the 360 is $50 but 40 pounds (or $67). At those prices, they can have their free shipping start at $9 as long as we get lower prices.

Amazon sales in UK probably are hurting.

UK is small, thus why they can say 1 day. I've gotten stuff 1 day too with Prime, but Amazon guarentees 2 day.

I still think Amazon is the best e-tailer around - so what if some other country gets a better shipping deal, you have to compare apples to apples, what US e-tailer gives a better shipping deal then Amazon?

In Canada, we have to spend $39 to get the same thing. Quit yer bitchin'.

OUCH... but you guys up there have some insane other deals... not on Amazon but other stuff...

Not a concern for me... though I'm a Prime customer here in the States and don't look at Super Saver shipping minimums anymore.

I pay for Prime and don't regret it at all... considering how much I've ordered from Amazon (including big items like a console), it's already paid for itself big time....
