Apparently, we Canadians get Futureshop exclusive The Dark Knight Steelbook Blurays. Hooray! In US, there's no special editions confirmed.

There's a topic in movies subsection, but OP may not be able to help all the requests for FS version now. Futureshop is well-aware of hoarders ordering many copies (thanks to some CAGers reported this) and limits 3 orders per household. Some Canadian ebayer already sold lots preorders on ebay. Good luck to those who fell on it, but I think FS won't send more than 3 to same address.

Just like Goomba is helping us canucks getting deals from US, I think we can help those folks south of border a bit on this. I already made an order of 3, and am helping 2 CAGers to get their copies. FYI, this is not to make huge profit! Just like Goomba charges minimal fees for all the hassles he goes thru. If you don't mind hassles and want some profit (please stay reasonable), you may do RFD style and get giftcards from trade-ins with cheap game finds.

As of now (Nov 15th 11 pm EST), 223 copies are available and it's shipping only (ie no store pickup). Reply this thread if you need a copy or if you want to help others.

The two disk version is the same one offered on Amazon.ca if I'm not mistaken.

There is a thread on RFD regarding the steel book version. Aside from the packaging how is it any different than the one on amazon?

Steelbook case would be my guess. Also FS exclusive one comes with post card bonus.
 
Wait, doesn't Best Buy get steel books down south? I thought they only sold the steel books in FS because we had way more stores than BB in Canada (thus more reach).

No steelbook version is confirmed in any of US retailers yet.
 
Helping out the US is cool, but it's going to screw Canadians out of those 200 copies. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, but that was the thought I had so I quickly called my brother with a heads up to order now if he wants one. I don't mean to offend anyone by saying this.
 
I ordered one, but I wish they'd give you more details about what you're paying for. There isn't a picture of the steelbook case OR any details about the special features included. I've heard there aren't any deleted scenes. What's on the second disc? It's also quite a bit more expensive than other 2-disc sets being offered around Canada and the US (including amazon.ca's). It also kinda sucks that it predicted it won't get to my place until the 18th, more than a week after release.

I agree though, the movie was so fantastic that I don't mind dumping some cash on this one to make it special.
 
If you got the Steelbook Iron Man case I'm sure it's essentially the same. Not overly impressive, just different from the traditional case, with no traditional back of the box info.

My only experience with a Futureshop "steelbook exclusive" was Galactica season 3 and while it looked nice it didn't even have an inset to describe which episodes were on which discs, it was pretty pathetic.

Hopefully this one is a little better overall.
 
I actually cancelled my order heh, the more I thought about it and the more I heard, I didn't want the steelbook. I'll stick with the regular 2 disc edition.
 
I am usually a steelbook junkie but, with the dark knight, I really want to see Heath Ledger's portrayal of the joker on the box art. Here are a few images of what the regular and special editions are supposed to look like:

I am not sure if futureshop has finalized that cover for their steelbook. If they have it's basically the same cover as the regular edition minus the joker art. Germany's steelbook looks a little different

Just to let everyone know if you use the 10 dollars off coupon you get the the blu-ray version of Batman begins and The Dark Knight for 41.XX after taxs.

Id rather get two good movies for 40 bucks than 1 steel book case.

Im going to cancel my steelbook case with post cards from futureshop unless someone wants it.

Oh you were talking about amazon. I thought it was FS. I'm sticking with FS's steelbook + amazon's batpod versions.
 
bump. Postcard bonus detail confirmed. Limited to first 1k preorders - it means almost no postcards for instore steelbook buyers since the preorder online is not letting you to pick up in store.

amazon.ca batpod edition is sold out for preorder as of Dec 1. It was $47.95. It doesn't seem to be amazon exclusive as it appeared on futureshop & bestbuy websites as well. They listed at $59.99 so there might be a PM opportunity if amazon.ca gets their stock back...
 
just a question to anyone who preordered the steelbook from futureshop: when you go to your 'my orders' section, is the disc listed as 'out of stock' or what? mine is listed as such, but my postcards are 'in stock'. i assume they'll ship together, but i just don't wanna end up not picking one up in store only to have my web order cancelled or something.

I remember when I pre-ordered the Cloverfield steelbook DVD and it also said out of stock. But I recieved it the day after it was released.

BBV will have DVD @ $19.99 on Dec 9th only. They will be open at midnight. Regular edition of bluray seems to be $29.99 ($24.99 if you preorder, YMMV). This is cheaper than amazon.ca if anyone ordered one from them.
