Far Cry 2 (PC) $17.95 at Amazon

I am so glad I held off, this has been a strange BF from Amazon, especially for PC games. I did buy Fallout 3, but held off on Far Cry because I'm backed up on 1st person shooters, but at this price I ordered it along with Pure for free shipping. So for less than a normal priced 360/ps3 game I've picked up Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, and Pure ($57) this weekend. Wow!

Now all those that complained about the PS3 version going down to $26 right after they bought it for $38 on the 360 can complain about this as well.

Sweet deal. I'd bite but I figure this will be coming up for me via Goozex soon. After this deal maybe it'll cost me less points too...

Yes indeed! I just bought it for $30-something on PC, and now it's dirt cheap! I'm pissed!

Great deal on a really interesting, forward-thinking game. Runs decently on lower-end systems, too, I might add, and of course it's also available on consoles for great prices (or it was available for great prices, at least).

Tough to know with games this year. You see a deal, you think it's fantastic, and it drops to less than half price a few days later!

Target would have me covered on that and refund the difference, but Amazon.com sadly stopped doing that.

Oh well.

Noticed that Guild Wars was $10 yesterday, too, and now it's $5. Kinda weird how they flip the prices around so much. And Resistance on PS3 was $15, now it's $20. Like... wow. Random crapshoot. Makes my OCD hurt. Whatever the case, great deals all around, though, that you don't even have to leave your house for.

I do hope lots of people buy Far Cry 2, though, whatever the price.

Does anyone know if a lot of people play online? I have this game for the 360 but was thinking it might be cool to be able to use the PC map editor.

Hmmm... was going to get Far Cry 2, but the reviews say that 1) it isn't the Far Cry we all know and love and 2) the Securom is scary. :(

I guess the REAL Far Cry 2 is Crysis.

Pretty sweet deal. I just grabbed one for myself.

Regarding all the reviews, it is making me a little wary myself. However, reviews in general are all extremely positive at gamerankings.com. I am going to give it a shot, considering a good portion of the negative reviews at Amazon are related to DRM. While I hate the use of DRM and generally try not to support it, this is a tough deal to pass up for under $20.

im all over this man !!!

Its a crusade, people rate the game poorly for no reason at all so dont let them deter you. The DRM system is almost exactly the same one that was in place on Bioshock. You know, that GOTY that sold a few million copies? The one thing that doesnt surprise me is the AI with ESP which im sure its going to annoy the hell out of me but for that little money its worth a shot. To be honost though i will be a little surprised if the gameplay does indeed turn out to be so flawed with a metacritic score as high as 86. If it really doesnt turn out to your liking you can always flip it and even gain a little profit. Thats my plan.

I bought it, but I'm not sure I'm keeping it now after reading about the DRM. I don't care if its a $50 retail game, I shouldn't have to deal with install limits and the like. It really pisses me off because I was really excited. At least I have Fallout 3 and Left 4 Dead, but it doesn't look like those are shipping until the middle of December. Whatever, I've got a backlog anyways.

I think I'd rather get this off Steam when there's a sale on the game

I just recently sold the game from the ps3 anyway

Another game in 2008 I refuse to buy because of DRM. Kinda pisses me off. I've ended up skipping 4 or 5 games this year because of it.
I would love to buy this but the limited installs is BS so I'll have to pass.
Unless you plan on playing the game over 4 different computers :)roll:) its unlimited installs. You may install the game as many times as you like over 3 different computers. The only hitch is you simply have to run the programs uninstaller to be re-credited 1 of your 5 tokens.

I can understand the insult over the system in Spore, Mass Effect, and DeadSpace, where the install limit is a hard cap, but i really cant find fault in this one. As long as you install and uninstall like normal, unless told, you'd never know the DRM was even there. Course your computers may be peices of garbage that crash all the time requiring hard installs of everything on a weekly basis, in which case, yea, you might have a problem. If that were the case then i'd question what sense it makes spending money on games at all if you had those problems though ;).

Or people aren't buying them because supporting that sort of copy protection, even if it wouldn't affect them personally, is a step in the wrong direction.

if a form of DRM that you wouldnt even know is there unless told bothers some people so much, maybe they'd find themselves more at home with a pitchfork and torch in permanently stuck to their hands as opposed to a game controller.

Yea DRM sucks, but i can live with this. Infact most anyone should be able to accept this. You install, play, and correctly uninstall. Its not rocket science. Im not going to let DRM stop me from enjoying games. If people all turned activists and stonewalled every single product with DRM what will eventually happen is we'll simply see less and less PC games until finally everyones playing on consoles. And i find that very funny and totally stupid/defeatist to the point since the DRM of a console is vastly more restrictive than that with which computer software is equiped.

I also love it when people use DRM as a scapegoat to justifty their pirating of a copy. People here dont exactly outright admit it, but i've seen numerous comments insinuating as much. That logic makes LOADS of sense.

Im sorry to say but i when it comes to DRM, theres far too many people with their heads stuck up their own asses like those posting rant reviews on amazon. The rest are just really poorly informed as to what the actual limitations are.

i totally agree.. who cares about DRM.. you are getting a damn good game for dirt cheap... seriously pc gamers need to buy these games.. especially when these prices are so low... if not we might as well kiss the game bye bye a la crytek

I'm glad you guys are happy about the deal, but what the hell is up with the "If you don't buy this game you are killing PC gaming" attitude? Companies pulling bullshit copy protection which does nothing to hinder pirates annoys me to the point of not supporting companies that do it. You might think I'm making a mountain of a molehill, but it's still a decent reason to skip games.

But if it makes you feel better, I don't buy the console versions of the games either. And since GTA4 for PC is going to be doing limited activations, I'm going to skip buying any DLC for my 360 copy.

WOW, I was about to go to bed after playing some L4D and decided to do a quick check of CheapAssGamer and I find this great deal. I almost picked this up from GoGamer at $30. I am glad I waited, this is a great deal!! SOLD....

Unbelievable--I wanted it when it was supposed to be $30 on BF and never dropped. Then it dropped to $30 and I passed because of all the other crap I already bought in the sale. Then it dropped as part of the Saturday stuff but it was a late drop so I missed it, but its still there on Sunday morning for $18. It is a Ubisoft game and will be $10 eventually, but I might even play it before then. . .
Wow, killer deal. I just threw in the 5 buck guild wars as filler.

Thanks OP.
Guild Wars is no filler, man. :)
Good action-RPG stuff, man.

360 gamers pay the 360 tax. Welcome to Microsoft's 'vision of gaming'. Enjoy your cheaper experience...as long as you don't have a calculator and can do math, that is ;)

Anyhow, given how bad player reviews of this game are, I don't know if it's worth $18.

That's par for the course, but not a solid rule this crazy weekend. I never got the PC version of Dead Space for $20.

Eh, I already bought one open-world first-person game for my PC on black friday, Fallout 3. I don't have the time to play Far Cry 2, even though I want to. I hate the holiday season. I buy so many games I haven't even played all the ones I bought last year.

I'm playing this on the 360 and wish I had waited for the PC version, but fans of Far Cry 1 should cop this. I'm enjoying it immensely.
