so my DS has 2 dead pixels.... i wait it out and i cant stand it any longer!

i call nintendo and do the free DS replacement plan.... they send a "new and tested" DS to me

i open up the DS today and what do i get? a DS with a broken friggen hinge.

i call up nintendo and i now have to send in the dead pixel one AND the broken hinge one so they will send me yet a 3rd one. DAMNIT! what could be wrong with the 3rd?!?!

now i can't play my beloved zelda minish cap :(

That's what a GBA player is for........assuming you have one.

Lucky my DS didn't have any dead pixel. Hope you will be lucky with the 3rd one. What is that saying? 3rd time is the charm or something like that.

I kept my SP, I find it's much less cumbersome to play GBA titles on, in addition to being able to play all titles GBA and previous on it.

Is it just me, or is this dead pixel thing pretty widespread? Nintendo may have its issues, but most of their products are fairly well made. This dead pixel thing is getting out of hand. The original gameboy was virtually indestructable.

That's what I was thinking, I've heard quite a few CAG's saying they've had to return DS's multiple times to get one without dead pixels.

The vast majority of DS's have perfect screens, but there are a lot with dead pixels. That's pretty much just a fact of life with LCD screens, though - they're an EXTREMELY common problem with the technology. Actually, overall, I'd say Nintendo is doing pretty well with the issue. It doesn't seem to be nearly as large of an issue as it often is with PDAs, and very few companies will replace a unit because of only one or two dead pixels.

Sucks for you Stealthy :D

I'm kidding of course...but I'm curious being the cheapasses we are, it would seem like buying hardware at launch would go against what we believe in. Sure the DS is cool, but you know you have 20 other games to play yet...

Easy: the 20 other games are GBA games, and we want to play them on the best screen possible, which is the DS (assuming they're single-player games...) The DS screen makes GBA games look real purty, not washed out like on an SP (or unseeable, as in a non-SP GBA.)
maybe they'll give up and send you a psp
It would be consistant with their sending him defective products so far.

My brother had 2 dead pixels when he got his DS. He didnt exchange it though. He got a warrenty to for it so he can just exchange it anytime.

Just because a few people on this website have had dead pixals doesn't mean shit. There are 20,000 uses and I doubt all of them have DSs, but even if they did there are million of DSs.

Plus Nintendo fixes the problem, the 2nd one fifn't have and dead pixals. :)

And Nintendo doesn't make the screens so it's not really their fault.

hey, at least they replace it for you, just wait until all the dead pixels on PSP...

I was lucky that I didn't get a dead pixel on DS or PSP. either that or I couldn't see it hehe.

Dead pixels are a fact of life. At least Nintendo is replacing them. The computer monitor I'm using now has a dead pixel (green) and they wouldn't replace it...

Why are you sending them the DS last though? When I contacted them, they had me ship out the broken DS, and they then sent me a new one.

If you have a credit card, they'll ship you the new/refurbished unit immediately (since if you don't send in your old unit, they can just charge you for the second one.) If you don't have a credit card, though, you have to send your unit in first. Otherwise, they'd be losing systems right and left...

just called in for my "fixed" DS and awaiting its arrival... hey, at least nintendo is nice enought to let you keep everything but the hardware. in other words you get to keep the 2 stylus, Metroid Prime Hunters Demo, and all the manuals and such. So it's not that bad when you think about it.... unless nintendo just likes seeing people suffer.
