HK Flix

Duckbutt

CAGiversary!
Has anybody here ever ordered from this site? I've never heard of it before. I found it while searching for a NTSC region DVD of [REC]. I found a copy on Amazon.ca, but it doesn't come out till the end of next month, it's more expensive on Amazon.ca, and it doesn't state if it's Spanish with English subs.

Anyways, I'm just wondering if this is a credible site or not. There is a rumor that REC will be released in the US once the remake Quarantine is released on DVD, but I have still yet to see any official details.

I use HKFlix a lot. I *believe* it is legitimate discs they send, as last I knew their stuff is regionlocked, bootlegs tend to be Region-Free.

I've placed 3-5 orders with em, stuff arrives within a week cheapest shipping method generally. Fairly well packaged.

That was my other question which I forgot to bring up. The copy of [REC] they are selling is Region 0 (aka Region Free) which makes me wonder if the stuff they sell is just bootlegs.

Thanks for your response georox.

I've never ordered from them before, but I believe they are legit from what I've heard in forums and such. I have quite a few asian DVDs, and a lot of them are region free. But that doesn't mean they are a bootleg, they just happen to release many of their DVDs that way.

I've used them alot before and they all seemed legit copies to me unlike the ghetto bootleg crap I have been tricked into buying on ebay before. I would recommend them.

Yea, I'm just saying though, generally if the entire contents of a site are region free, you should wonder. Some titles genuinely are region-free.

i've used them a dozen times or so...never a problem and they've always shipped quick in the past...and their dvds are all legit, as many of the foreign releases are going region free in order to spread out to a wider market, especially smaller film houses...

Cool, thanks for the help guys. Obviously I don't buy imported media. Since it sounds like this seller is ok, I'll probably look for another foreign horror film to add before I order from the site.

Yeah, that is what I'm trying to avoid. I found a seller on eBay selling Peter Jackson's Bad Taste for $5, plus $3 out of Hong Kong. Right there it threw up a red flag since the movie is out of print and can go for $20 or more, plus the Asian market is notorious for bootlegs. Nearly pulled the trigger on the movie until I spent some time reading the seller's feedback and he had several complaints of selling copies instead of originals.

I've also ordered from HK Flix several times and they are actually the company I bought my OPPO DVD Player from. There are a few titles they sell that are questionable as far as being bootleg or not, but I'd say the majority of them are official. Just because a title is region 0 it is not automatically a bootleg.

Yes Asia is selling the same DVD though so it's most likely legit. You might want to get the UK Region 2 SE though as it costs slightly less and is 2 disc with a lot more extra features. Its about $15 from Amazon UK.

HK Flix is a legit site, I have bought from them, Yesasia and Dvdasian. Yesasia is definitely the best of the bunch, Yesasia and Dvdasian do not sell bootlegs, I am not sure about HK Flix but I am pretty sure they don't as well. Because there are lots of region 0 releases from many countries, especially china, but that does not mean there bootlegs.

The edition of Ed Wood's Necromania they are selling is a bootleg. They list it as the OOP US R1 EURO-CULT edition and show the picture for it, but will ship you an Asian bootleg with Chinese writing on the front and back cover that is different from the front/back cover shown on the site. Also, the official edition does not have any Asian characters.

They do sell some bootlegs, the majority of their stuff is not. I've also heard rumblings that some of the Shaw Brothers films they carry are very questionable.

Agreed. (Sorry if my post came off a bit rude, didn't mean it that way at all. Just trying to be informative.)
