Has anyone here actually produced a Blu Ray title yet?

Just wondering for those who have a high end pc with BR burners and BR authoring software (like the adobe package) have you encountered the same "Slow start up" as a normal commercially produced BR would? I was thinking of making my demo reel in full HD and putting it on BR disc, however noticing how it takes up to a minute for a BR to load on a stand alone BR player, it makes me wonder if the same where to happen if I produced my own disc.

Most of that slowness is due to the player doing lots of software operations to support special features of the disc. BR is a big jump in potential complexity over DVD and this comes at a price, especially in cost sensitive consumer electronics with limited resources compared to PCs.

One thing to check is whether some existing movies have lesser startup times than others and whether this can be correlated to the features implemented on the disc.

Look at it this way. The worst that can happen is your demo reel on BR performs the same as typical BR movies. Those used to this won't complain. If keeping things very simple improves time to access, then it's a win. The advantage of having your material seen in HD is there no matter what.
