Normally, this wouldn't bother me, but they recently jacked up the rates for Blu-Ray's again, so this practice disturbs me a bit. I don't know for a fact that they're doing it to Blu-Ray's, but I just got a regular DVD in the mail today, and it has a ring around the center, similar to this.

The problem with this is that if the sticker somehow gets torn or raised in any way, it can snag on the inside of your DVD and/or Blu-Ray player.. which is a very worrying thing, as I use my 360 for a DVD player and the PS3 for a BR player. Has anyone ever had an issue with a center sticker on a disc? It's only happened to me once.. hopefully they don't put these stickers on BR discs as well.

Almost all of the newer Blu-rays I've rented have had these, including the 400 Blows disc I got in the mail today. I don't see the big outrage, where else can I rent obscure Blu-rays for $1/disc average to my mailbox plus have access to their vast catalogue of Instant Watch titles? :shrugs:

Almost all the BRs I get have had them. Not sure about DVDs as I haven't rented a DVD in a month or two.

I don't see the big deal either. If you've had problems just quickly check that the stickers are in place and not lose before throwing it in the player.

Scorch, they've been doing this for a few weeks at least. Also, new releases all feature greyish colored discs rather than whatever the ones you would purchase normally would look like.

P.S. I tried replying to your PM, but your box is full. Anyway, it was an apology.

Stupid 150 limit, I always forget about the sent box.. No worries. Thanks.

It's weird that you guys have been seeing this for weeks. This is the first DVD I have gotten so far that has had it on there. The last DVD I rented out was A Threevening with Kevin Smith.. it may have had it on there, but I didn't check - I was so excited to watch it that I literally tossed it in the DVD player.

I haven't gotten one yet but I'm receiving a disc tomorrow so I'll be looking. However, I've mainly been getting older/obscure stuff lately. BB used to do this and stopped after a while, precisely for the reason you gave, Scorch. These will eventually start to peel and cause problems in players. I don't see Netflix doing this for a particularly long time. I'd be willing to bet there is some new upper management at Netflix considering some of their recent tactics. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them used to work for BB.

90% of the DVDs they send you are grayish "rental-only" discs it doesn't neccesarily pertain to just new releases as I got Changeling the other day and it was the regular DVD not the "rental-only" gray disc.

really... wouldn't care either way, but I'd mark a disc as damaged if it's going to have a problem in the drive with the sticker peeling off.

I don't know why Netflix would... what benefit would they have???

Redbox already does this and so far haven't had any issues.

If they use real glue it should be on there permenantly but then maybe one would want to remove it...

What's the new BD user fee? It was $1/month before, right?

I just hopped onto Netflix when they added the 360 instant play, and haven't added the ability to rent BDs yet. But seeing as how, following someone's advice, I'll be watching "The Wire" for the next three million discs in my queue, it may be awhile before I get any BDs anyway.

You waited this long to watch The Wire? Shame on you. :(

I've finished seasons 1-3. Some of the best television I've ever watched.

Yeah, I only signed up in february, but I've noticed these stickers on some of the discs I've rented. I just thought it was normal for Netflix. I didn't know they did, or had done, differently.
