Tips on SNES controllers: buying used or trading

I'm trying to get some good SNES controller pads because it seems like all the official ones I have are sort of miserable (undoubtedly from overuse and abuse).

I got a cool set of replacement pads from an eBay seller that seemed great for $11.00 and tried that out on one particular controller. But by disassembling it I somehow made the response of the diagonals worse and managed to strip a screw in the process (a real wizard of a technician, for sure). I'll have to try cleaning the contacts since I've heard from multiple people that it might help and be a little more careful in my assembly, but for the time being I was thinking about finding some replacements.

Do any CAGs have extra SNES pads for trade? If you want to link me to your trade lists or something like that I'll see what I can do. Are there any good places to check? I have a little luck at Play N Trade and Movie Trading Company but they can sometimes charge quite a bit for pads that are already messed up from the get go (or at least from what I can tell by handling them for a bit).

Other than that I guess it's a flea market/thrift store/goodwill/garage sale crap shoot. If anyone picks some up extras and can vouch for their quality then I think that would be worth more than the asking price on eBay (especially since there's no guarantee they won't be offering knock offs). It can be hard to tell just from handling them for a bit and I think I would feel way more justified in filling a fellow CAGer's pockets.

The absolute best SNES pads I have run into are the Asciiware Asciipads. The one I own still works great and seems to be the most responsive of our original controllers. I would LOVE to get a set of four of those but I'm not sure that will happen beyond eBay (I might have to indulge on them slowly over time). But if there are other good third party suggestions or even reliable knock offs I would like to try them out.

Let me know what you can and thanks for your contributions!
