Flash Drive errors with Vista

CAGiversary!
Hey Everybody,

I am kind of at my wits end with a problem that I have been having with my laptop and I don't know much in the way of computers, so I thought perhaps someone here could help.

For some reason, I cannot get any mouse to work on my Dell XPS M1530.
I have tried to install a Dynex DX-WLMSE, A Razer Diamondback, and some crappy mouse I bought at a Seiyu (Japan's Walmart). I keep running into the same issue. I plug in the usb, Vista prompts me to install the drivers, then it searches for the drivers when I hit yes, but it always comes up with an error message that "Windows cannot find the drivers on the device" or something of that nature. If it does not come up with this and is "successfully" installed, the mouse still does not work.

I really am stumped on this and I am getting pretty frustrated about this whole thing. I have heard this is not an uncommon problem with Vista in searching how to fix this via google search. I am half tempted to by a blue tooth mouse, but I don't want to spend the money on something like that when I have 2 working ones here.

Does anyone know what the problem with this might be and what a solution may be. Or where I can at least look for a solution. I would appreciate any kind of help.

Thanks!

im surprised it would even ask for drivers for a generic mouse. im not sure what it is, try throwing in your vista disc and run a repair on vista, it wont hurt anything to try that.
