Update: No reply from this trader via pm's or email. Be cautious with trading from anyone from
La vernia, TX 78121. In case he sets up another account. He's apparently done this before

The trade is with luckeyman, and as I see on the bad trader list, he's possibly done this before.

I sent him Saints Row 2 and he acknowledged receipt:

So, who do I contact about this problem and if it is not resolved, is this a reportable mail fraud issue.

First he said he would ship right away, than he said he would ship Mon/Tues, now when he logged in, he doesn't respond to my pm. Maybe I'm jumping the gun, but none of this sounds good.
 
What does right away mean? A specific day would help so other CAGs can understand how long the delay is and get a handle on the situation.

He received the game Friday, Aug 28. His pm from there is:
"Hey man i recieved today. Everything looks great. Ill ship out street fighter 4 asap and give you the tracking info when i do."

I asked him Sunday, I believe, if he shipped and he said no, but he'll ship Mon or Tuesday. I asked today if he shipped, he logged in, and did not reply.

I found a mod to contact, so I'll do that now.

Dont try to scam me, i have succesfully filed mail fraud on people in the past.

Lets hope he follows his own advice.
 
It isn't that suspicious honestly, things come up and it has only been a few days. He may not have even had a chance to get on CAG himself yet, it could be that the computer at his house is set to auto login and has CAG on the homepage and someone else used it. At least give it a couple more days before you start really worrying about it too much, stuff does come up.
 
The gun has been jumped. If the dude did have some negative trades though.. this may scare him into not doing anything funny if he was planning on to. Good luck and keep us updated.
 
OP, I'd give him another few days to ship it out before assuming the worst. A week's time should be more than enough time to get something shipped out.
 
I agree that it's a tad early to take drastic action, but at the same time I get very annoyed when there is a breach of communication or reasons keep coming up as to why payment/item hasn't shipped.

If you feel you're getting the run around from someone then, by all means, do what you did and post something.

Two things jump out to me. One, he was on a bad trader list. Two, Saints Row 2 for SFIV seems like a somewhat lopsided deal in your favor. SR2 was just five bucks at Hollywood Video and SFIV seems more valuable. I could definitely be wrong about that though. Good luck resolving this. God damn I hate shady CAG's.
 
Mike, they are worth the same amount of points on Goozex.

No reply yesterday from luckeyman, no reply yet today.

If he doesn't respond, what are my options.
 
...we have Netural and Negative ratings...and rarely do any of us ever use them. I wonder if we switched to a rating system (i.e. 1-10) how things would look. All the 100% feedbacks start to lose their meaning...you know?
 
I doubt that this is anything, I can think of many times when I've had to message someone back via PM saying, hey man, couldn't make it to the post office today to send your stuff out, but I'll be there tomorrow for sure. I think because he sent something saying he didn't get a chance to send it out, but he'll do so in a day or two, means that this isn't much of anything.

Nonetheless let us know how this turns out for you.
 
I'm agreeing with the majority, that you should give him a little more time. I hope he didn't plan on scamming, as it's pretty much dragging down the CAG trading board, and possibly ruining some trades that people are too hesitant to do. It's really not fair for new people, as these assholes who are scamming are making it harder for established members wanting to trade with newer members, or members with a lower feedback rating altogether.


Hope for the best, I'm sure he just needs a few days. I usually wait until 4 or 5 days of no contact before I start to get a little worried.
 
Probably don't mean crap but i traded with luckeyman early on with no problems and no hint of anything fishy. Hope it works out.
 
It's now been a week since he told me he would be shipping. I think if I don't hear from luckeyman by Monday, whatever action can be taken via this board should start. At that point, I'll send him a pm letting him know that in (10) days I will be sending a mail fraud complaint against him if I don't hear back. Does that sound about right?

Sounds perfect. With a short time, filing a complaint might not help your case, but waiting as long as you have specified, if something did happen, you'd definitely got yourself a good claim.
 
Sounds right I would say, like others said things do come up in life that can put sending something off track. But a week should be plenty of time. And if your logging in at least reply to the message I would say.

Well since I am assuming he didn't respond to you yesterday, I would say to alert a mod (Shrike4242 is the best for this) that he still has not contacted you back and the time frame it has been. It looks like Shrike is already aware of the situation as he posted in here already, but I would pm him luckeyman's info and see what he has to say about it. I haven't ever had an issue like this myself, but I would assume Shrike is going to pm the guy himself (it may work a little better coming from a mod) and he will likely give you some info to prepare to file for a mail fraud claim and how much longer you should wait before doing that (I would personally give it another week before doing that). Good luck and I hope it works out for you, don't let one bad trader turn you away from it. There are many people on this site that are still trustworthy, I suggest going to higher feedback people (50-100+) and build your own up so you can request same time shipping or have them ship first once you are higher.

I'm terribly sorry about your misfortune, but don't let this one time turn you away. CAG has an amazing community of traders, 95% of which are just plain awesome people. This sort of thing has been happening more often, which makes it hard to want to trade, but don't leave. You have a claim, I doubt you'll lose it, and you can definitely elevate this. The mods have seen how helpful and cooperative you've been, and you seem like a good enough guy that it'd be a shame for you to just leave.

Just try to stick around, but with all the shit that has been happening, I can understand if you do end up leaving...

Yeah, but the internet isn't shut down today, so he could send him a PM. I think it's too late anyways... Even if the guy shipped it out, or sends him a PM today, he should at least give the OP a little bit back or something, for pretty much screwing him over to the fullest possible without not sending the item.

Given your replies and the others in this thread, there are obviously great traders, but it isn't worth it to me to trade when right out of the gate it appears I was scammed. I've had 18+ trades on goozex w/ no problem and Ive done 2 trades on slickdeals that were flawless. Anyway, as shady suggests, maybe the game will show up tomorrow ... but I doubt it. Even if it does, this trade has been the worst one I've had.

Besides, the last time the guy logged on he ignored my question of "did it ship yet" and that's the last he's been on his account. So ...

Yeah, like I said, I wouldn't blame you if you left. There's been way too many scams on here lately, but for me, the good guys outweigh the bad ones. I'm sure I might end up running into a scam sometime, but I'm more for selling than trading, anyways. I really wish your first time would have been better [Ehhhh, rephrasing that would be better, but I think it's fine that way hahaha] but you tried. Shrike and the members with higher feedback are doing their best at keeping the trading section a legit, responsible place, but in the end, a few pieces of shit end up ruining it. Thank you, to anybody who decided or will decide to rip people off. Hope it happens to you, but on a much larger scale.
 
No game in the mail from luckeyman and no contact. I have sent him an email and will go from there .... thanks, luckeyman, for the terrible 1st trade. I know he is banned for trading as of now, but on the bad trader list, his name is spelled "luckyman." I just assumed it was a different screen name, but apparently it isn't.
 
He was a real asshole when I traded with him, trying to say that he didn't get my half of the deal after I sent it. When he was proved wrong he tried to say that it was insufficient postage. He did ship first though, so I thought nothing of it.
 
I speak from experience and yeah trading is somewhat risky, I've had good outcomes but had to take extreme measurements, It might be a good idea for for somesort of "protocol" to be developed to insure consistency, and help people measure what is "unusual" personally I think its a good idea if your gonna trust someone to share get each others contact information. That way you have a ace up your sleeve if things go wrong, and if they won't do that "DON't Do BUSINESS"

I'm a pretty thorough guy and been here awhile, but not traded much. Recently though I had what seemed like a great trade encounter problems, and had I had that things would have went differently and not taken so long, developed negative aspects, and in the end was found to be not malicious just an unfortunate set of situations, but had I had a contact phone number I would have known what was happening instead of over a month after the fact.. So Get contact information to be Safe even verfiy it before you trade to be extra careful. FYI
 
I've sent him several emails and he is not responding. I'm not interested in doing detective work to uncover his phone number. I guess a mail fraud complaint and an ic3 (internet crime) complaint are coming next week.

Hopefully you can get to the bottom of it, and I really hope that police involvement will come out in the end. Good luck on hitting him hard!

I hope everyone doesn't stop trading with folks who use their work address. I use my office address so my games don't get damaged by my mailman trying to cram them through the slot in my house.
 
I love the 10-15 people who tried telling him it was too early. Sorry you got scammed. Next time don't listen to these knuckle heads and give him more time to get away with it.

The guy scammed two people on that goozex site and didn't even give a half assed reason for jerking them around several months later. Who knows how many people hes scammed.

I agree with you 100%. I think that some of us have a little more experience around here trading and what not. I know for a fact myself that I sometimes cannot make it to the post office right away because I can work like 120 hrs in a 2 week period and often times it is hard to make it to the post office sometimes. People have their lives to live as well as being active on here.

Jumping the gun is unnecessary and unwarranted right away. I have given people like 2 weeks before I finally escalated it and everything turned out fine.

The email address the admin of cag gave me led me to a myspace page from some 13 year old from Lakewood WA. Using that yahoo email address in a yahoo search, the kid put his home as Lakewood. Now, by typing in the douche's name and myspace, I came upon another myspace page with the kids name he gave and address, La Vernia, tx. Within his comments section are people asking him if he's ever coming back to Washington state). I've contacted his friends on myspace telling them to forward this message: he has until Monday to settle things. I doubt he'll do anything - he's been to boot camp, suspended from school - but he's in a bit more trouble now seeing as this would be 3 counts of mail fraud ....

... You gotta stay here. It looks like you've done some damn good work on finding the person, and I gotta commend you on that. You'd be pretty valuable to other members who have gotten screwed over in the future. I wish you'd reconsider and try another trade and see that the 99% of members here are great guys, and you'll probably end up making a few new friends. Just stay away from Strell, he has one leg and a hook for a hand and probably would tie your legs together and throw you into the bottom of the sea ;)
 
Thanks for the replies. One of his friends has replied, maybe they can get through to him. I think I also found his brothers myspace page, and I've contacted him as well.

i'm still fighting an embezzlement case at our school for $1000 against our former student organization's leader. its a pain in the --- but you never know when anything written down or timestamped can be useful.

you could also sign up his email addy on a lot of fun adult sites; along with getting random things mailed to his house. if you do it enough, see who's laughing later.

Damn dude, you have more than enough evidence to get shit done. I'd do whatever I could to show him what he did is not okay and will not be tolerated anywhere. From one of your previous posts, it sounds like he pretty much is a lowlife and won't amount to anything. His loss :)
