So I haven't been playing a lot of the newer PC games mainly due to my video card not being up to snuff but I recently upgraded that to a evga gtx 260 core 216 and I have 3 gigs of RAM in Vista 32. I currently have a core 2 duo with two 1.8 ghz cores and am wondering if this is enough computing power to run games with min requirement of 3.2 ghz (I realize you can't simply add the two core speeds to get an actual speed but systemrequirements lab seems to suggest my processing speed should be about 3.13 ghz but I'm not sure if that's really accurate)? Thanks

How many games require 3.2ghz? Im pretty sure thats around the cap of CPUs nowadays just because they are going for more cores instead of trying to increase ghz. im pretty sure 1.8 DUO will be able to run most things, but whats becoming more of the important factor is how many cores. Example, I just looked up the specs for recommended req for Dragon Age, and its 2.8 Quad, while min is 1.4 Core 2. Just looked up one of the i7s and they arent cracking the 3.0 ghz mark.

EDIT:

Just checked COD:MW2 and noticed that its min is P4 3.0, but truthfully Im not sure how single cores equate out compared to their dual core bretheren. But considering COD:MW2 is able to run on a P4 (id really like to see this actually) I think your dual core should be ok for now (although you might run into some issues because its under 2.0 ghz.)

Whoops, seems like I was wrong, heres the top speed from Intels i7 line. 3.33 ghz quad core. Of course it costs 1g for it.

Yeah you can't really equate any single v dual core numbers. My advice is to try it and see. If it doesn't work, try overclocking 20% or so. If still not good enough, sell your old chip and put on the fastest thing compatible with your board.
