Since it is the holiday season, I know many of you will end up buying an HDTV. I assume most here will pay using their credit card however those making purchases with PayPal to get faster Bing cashback or those who are lured by getting a warranty with their HDTV should know that most of the major credit cards (Visa, MC, AMEX) add an extra year to the manufacturer's warranty of the product you're buying like an HDTV or a Nintendo Wii.
I recently purchased an HDTV using Bing cashback and was kicking myself for not paying with PayPal since using a different pay type means you have to wait 60 days to get your money back. Then I remembered reading about how a credit card has protection plans adding a year to a product's warranty. I did a quick Google and just got off the phone with my credit card company and they don't just add a year, but they double the original warranty. This is great because if you register with Samsung, you get an extra 3 month warranty meaning I'm covered for 30 months and not 12 (12 + 3 for two years).
Just a heads up for those who get paranoid and end up paying $79 for an extra year of warranty from Best Buy or Dell. I literally had no idea this existed so hopefully this will help some of you CAG's. Call up your credit card company to make sure you qualify.
