I'm not sure if this is the best forum, or site to post this but I saw it on Joystiq and thought I'd pass it along.

A poster called "Coin Op" featuring pixel art of arcade games is being sold by "the poster cause project" with 100% of the proceeds going to a video game related charity called SpecialEffect. I think the print looks pretty neat regardless of the fact that it's for a good cause.

About the Charity

SpecialEffect is a charity dedicated to helping ALL young people with disabilities to enjoy computer games. For these children, the majority of computer games are simply too quick or too difficult to play, and we can help them and their parents to find out which games they CAN play, and how to adapt those games that they can't.
About the Artist
Army of trolls is the portfolio of London born, videogame obsessed artist Gary J Lucken. Working from his Computer in Switzerland surrounded by Japanese toys and piles of old 2D videogames Gary produces a unique brand of colourful artwork heavily influenced by the videogames, toys and pop culture he loves so much.

How does SpecialEffect help?

SpecialEffect helps young people with disabilities to use leisure technology in the following ways:

  • By adapting, developing and modifying cutting edge technology – for example eye-controlled technology, a special strength of SpecialEffect.
  • By supporting hospitals, hospices, special schools, etc. in finding the right leisure technology for those young people who need it most, when they need it most.
  • By loaning specialised leisure technology to young people who have a sudden serious injury or illness.
Our team of specialist professionals have many years of experience in designing and adapting technology to help young people with physical and learning difficulties. Success with using this technology can lead to huge gains in self-confidence and motivation, and can provide a way for young people with disabilities to compete with others on a level playing field.
We’re dedicated to providing the expertise necessary to enable everyone to enjoy the fun, friendship and challenges that can be found in the world of computer games and leisure.

I'm all for charity, especially game inspired ones. Unfortunately for me, 11x17 at that price is too hard a bullet to bite.

In for 1. The poster kinda sucks but it's for a good cause. I couldn't imagine if I wasn't able to play video games :(

Add $5 shipping to U.S. btw

I wish companies would stop referring to 11X17 'prints' as posters.

Call it a print, or something, but it's nowhere near a poster.

Not being a jerk, but their charity helps disabled kids 'find out which games they CAN play, and how to adapt those games that they can't'?

That doesn't make sense to me. Why do you need a charity for that, can't the parents and the kids do most of that work?

I'm not being a jerk, just 25 bucks is quite a lot.

EDIT: I love charity, that's just the weirdest one I've ever heard of.

The charity's description does sound kind of odd. I checked out their site and found this video showing an example of how they've helped some children. I'll add a link to the OP as well as update the price to include shipping
