Battlestar Galactica 2004 complete series bluray $150 at Best buy

I want to get this show (I just started watching and now I am hooked) but $150 for a set is a ton of money. I might just bite the bullet and spend the six bucks a month it costs to add a disc to my Netflix account.

Oh wow, it is the blu-ray. I thought it would be DVD at this price since the title didn't specify. I've had my eye on this for a while, and this is the cheapest I've seen it. I know the packaging sucks, and a new version is coming in April (with an extra disc of extras, I think?) but I will have to seriously consider picking this up. Looks like it's in stock at my store, too.

P.S. I just noticed that amazon price-matched this deal. Yeah, no tax!

You can email Universal and they will give you instructions on how to get the replacement packaging if you decide to grab this set.

I know alot of people give the US set shit but i like it over the others one, some people complain how it can scratch your disc do you know what BR disc are made of? they are not going to scratch in that packaging

Plastic, Blueberry Muffin Tops Cereal, and Durabis Rainbows, last time I checked.

It's too bad I was already 3 seasons worth of DVD box sets deep when the Blu's came out...

I can't justify the price of upgrading because the show itself is already shot with a film grain...

If you get this deal for $149.99 you can send in for the new packaging but you have to cut out part of the first season packaging of the limited edition. Here's a link.

Only thing is you won't get The Plan disc with it but you get the packaging for it I think.

I just saw this and was going to post it, but you beat me to it. Now I see no reason not to get this set.

I read somewhere that "The Plan" disc was included when you mailed in the packaging, but I think that was flawed. You can get that disc for around $15 if not less, so that is not a huge problem. I think I might have to go ahead and bite on this set. I may wait though. The price can only go down once the new set comes out.

I received my replacement packaging the other day. The only thing "The Plan" related you get it the plastic Blu Ray case (no cardboard sleeve). Though the new box is set up that you can put the The Plan inside the cardboard sleeve inside the box along with the others. It looks really nice overall.

Any chance you could post some pics?
I just shot off an email yesterday to Universal. Hopefully I'll get a response soon.

Edit: Heard back from Universal this morning. They included a link to the new packaging but it seems to be have the wrong picture. Glad they responded to quick though.

Ok, I have a younger brother who is 13/14, and just had to throw this out there before I buy it for him. Is there nudity in this? I just don't really feel like getting a phone call from my dad in a few weeks asking me why I got my kid brother p0rn.

I've only watched the miniseries and the first four episodes, but I am pretty confident there is no nudity. I believe there is a heavy dose of sexuality, though. One scene in the miniseries has Number Six (Hot Blonde Robot Girl) straddling another character and simulating sex. IMO, the show has a bit of a dark tone given that the last members of humanity are trying to stay alive, but most content should be suitable for someone that age.

I'm not sure I would let him watch it alone.
As the show progresses there's more sexuality, even an attempted rape. No nudity though. Def. a dark edge to this series. He might be better suited for the series in a couple years, imho but it all depends on the individual child and their thought processes.

The Plan has quite a bit of nudity and I think that is it. The Plan was a straight to DVD release. There is a lot of sex in the show but no real nudity... unfortunately.

Went ahead and sent in request for new replacement cases today. Don't exactly hate the current set, but can't hurt to see what i get.

So you chopped up your original box set to request the cases? Which part did you send out? It wasn't really made totally clear on those blu-ray forums.

A snippet from my Universal email:
To receive new packaging, please remove the top and triangular flap of the Season One case included in your complete series set and send it to us, along with the following information and a copy of this correspondence:

Alright, excellent. I'll be trying it out as soon as I get mine in the mail... the original box isn't so bad, but I feel my OCD dark side groaning quietly.

I was always planning on upgrading from the DVD to Blu-ray. Any guess on what I could get for the complete series on DVD in there seperate season boxes including "The Plan" and a copy of "Razor"?

You could easily get $40 just by using the overly easy Amazon trade-in program... there are very few deals on used versions of the DVDs (with recent knowledge of this considering I bought all of them in quick succession on impulse a few months ago), so you could also go the Half.com/Amazon Marketplace/eBay route and easily get $100, I imagine. $20 on each box doesn't seem impossible.

Just to make it clear,

Order this from Amazon for $149.99 w/ FSSS http://www.amazon.com/Battlestar-Ga...ef=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1270124880&sr=8-6

Use this form to request the new packaging http://www.universalstudios.com/contact_form.php?email_id=10

And receive this:

Now you have the new packaging, the original packaging, (minus the flap you had to chop off and mail in) and the collectible cyclon!
Minus a copy of The Plan on BR.
This is true; however, you're saving $60 by purchasing the older complete series set, and The Plan goes for about $21.

Agreed about The Plan not being worth $60.

These are all true ingredients. This man is clearly a scientist.

$16.49 on Amazon right now  Just ordered mine

And I used the custom cover art found here with some 4/5/6 disc BD cases. The Digipacks suuuuuuck. I plan on doing the same for my Heroes set soon. They take up way too much room and I hate unfolding them.

I'll have to look them up when I get the "new" packaging.

I just placed an order for the "old" set and The Plan, since $16.49 is as cheap as I've seen it for a while. Should be here in a couple of weeks, and I already emailed Universal about what needs to be done to get the "new" packaging.
