Getting the Band together

Alexisonfire

CAGiversary!
Since the launch of the Rock Band Network and the wave of good music that have been coming from that, I took interest once again in getting Rock Band 2. Tragically Hip sealed the deal. I've decided that I can freeload off of my PS3 owning friends and roommates no longer. I must get a 360 copy of Rock Band 2.

Now, I know I can get the game itself for $20 multiple places in town, but I'm having a little trouble deciding whether it is worth the trouble of hunting down individual instruments, whether they be official or not, or getting the whole package. Cheapest I've seen the whole package is like $130, but surely I can do better than that.

So basically, I'm asking for you guys to recommend the best way to secure me some of those annoyingly bulky plastic instruments while not feeling like I'm playing on something made my Fisher Price nor paying for the whole bundle. This is CAG after all.

While a full set of 2 guitars, drums, and a mic would be nice, I'm thinking a mic and a controller would do just fine for now.

Thanks Guys!

if you are interested I've seen the Beatles collector's edition for the 360 at stables for $120
shouldn't be YMMV

(it's the real collector's edition, not the cheap RB2 set with beatle game)

$120 for the full set is pretty good. Go for it if you're not attached to Guitar Hero instruments.

Between the two, the Guitar Hero line of instruments is far superior to the Rock Band line. Strum bar is satisfyingly clicky, buttons are more defined, and the drums come with that extra cymbal out-of-the-box.

Make sure you do *not* get the Rock Band 1 instruments, if anything--that's the set they give you with the Beatles Rock Band "Value Bundle". They're absolutely horrid. Rock Band 2 set and Beatles Collector's Edition are A-OK.

See, I've only played with the Rock Band 1 instruments. Well, I played a bit of Guitar Hero 3, but everyone I know has the Rock Band 1 controllers, so I have no problem with them whatsoever.

I do have a problem with The Beatles: Rock Band. I know it's blasphemy, but I have no interest in the Beatles, so I would rather have Rock Band 2 list of songs.

Also, I think you can't play Rock Band Network songs on the The Beatles: Rock Band. May be wrong there.

No, you're right. Beatles: Rock Band is a totally separate deal. Still, RB1 and RB2 are cheap enough used and stand-alone that it doesn't really matter *which* game comes with your bundle. It won't cost a lot to supplement.
