CAGiversary!
i was thinking of picking up a few manuals there but it says you may get a photocopy. has anyone gotten these? and if so, are they on the same kind of paper as the old manuals? i dont mind not having an original, but i don't want some cheap thing i could just print off instead. thanks!

I ordered a Pikmin manual a year or two ago. So, it's entirely possible these problems have been fixed / were a fluke. That said...

The manual was printed with fairly decent quality on fairly decent paper. The manual is printed on both sides of the paper. However, it's not in an order that would allow you to get fancy with some scissors to make your own manual. The "front" has both the cover and back of the manual, while the back of the front page has pages 2-3.

Oh yeah, the entire thing also looks like someone took a manual, ran to the copy machine with it, and copied it. The "front" page with the cover and pack shows clear signs of a crease, shelf wear, and even shows the staples. Internal pages also show creases, staple holes, folds, etc.

It's passable if you want it as a reference material, but not really for collective purposes.

I also ordered manuals from Nintendo. I knew that there was a chance they would be copies, however the manuals I wanted were for Golden Sun and Golden Sun 2. The web pages for these items didn't have the photo copy disclaimer, and they also stated that they included the maps.

Well, I receive the order and, of course, they are just plain old xerox copies of the manual. Terrible. No map even! It took many emails back and forth before Nintendo refunded my money.

I remember ordering a few manuals from them....waayyyyyyy back in the day. Think NES stuff.

Back then, it was photocopies. They were poorly done, and I remember paying quite a bit for them. (I was very young.)

I'm betting they just keep a copy of each of their games, and probably do that for nearly all their titles.

I would only do it if it was a Wii or DS game, I ordered the manual for Twilight Princess and it was the original manual. It makes sense that they would only have original copies of recent games.

I clearly remember buying a SMB 2 and original Zelda booklet & map, and they were authentic originals. Of course, that was 1990, so it adds no relevance to this discussion.
