Well I was going to rant about the price of Super Mario Galaxy 2 in Canada but then choose not to. However, since you did then I will now rant.

What is absolutely garbage is that at Gamestop in the U.S. and Amazon.com (maybe other stores) they gave you a $20 gift card if you pre-ordered the game for your next game purchase.

However, Best Buy in Canada says:

"HAHAHA if you pre-order Super Mario Galaxy 2 you get a $5 gift card for our already $10 overpriced Wii game."

At the end of the day I will not pay $67 for a Wii game and if Best Buy had given a $10 gift card then they would have made a sale. But $5 doesn't even pay for the tax of the game. So yeah I am just thankful for Goomba.

Mario Galaxy is only $30 if you buy some crappy games and trade them into EB for the trade 3 get 1 free deal. That's what I did.

Easier said than done. With the amount of 'turd hunting' I'd have to do, I'd spend $30 on gas alone.

I used bioshock 2 to preorder SMG2 at BB when it was at 45 bucks. Ill just rebuy it when its 9.99 like the current bioshock is. Those two bioshock games are great to have in a collection long term. Very fun games.

If anyone was interested in Blur...its $59.99 at Amazon.ca, FS (gets you the chrome BMW), BB...not sure why Walmart is going for the $64.83 "everyday low price"?

Wow are they turning into EB Games with charging $5 more. You could always price match them at Wal Mart.

That is funny though that they are charging more but then again I am not surprised.
$20 for Assassin's Creed II; I think it's time I buy this game.
Amazing game, fun missions, believable likeable charters, a story you want to finish, the setting is just gorgeous, you get to stab people and play dress up. As a side the Platnium/1000GS is doable by regular humans.

I think it's time for me to pick up AC2 as well. I'm not too worried about the complete edition that is almost certainly coming, but wasn't the DLC for this game pretty mediocre anyways?

I am not sure if it was mediocre since didn't play it but it is not neccessary to play to enjoy the game and understand the story. I highly recommend getting ACII.

Also ACII Complete Edition is confirmed to come out in North America next month. Here is the link from Kotaku:

http://ca.kotaku.com/5543295/assassins-creed-ii-bundles-game-with-downloadable-content

I will wait now on getting the game.

Wow, I can't believe how quickly ACII dropped in price considering how good of a game it is. It's getting the Bionic Commando / Sabotuer treament but it's actually a great game.

I can't believe they're nuking the prices down to the point I'll have to buy those 3 games in the same week. It's madness. :hot:

There's nothing confirmed from Kotaku.com. It's just Kotaku's poor writing of it's coming out hype without mentioning the link is from the UK.

Actually below there is a link the European site "Play" which shows the full version on sale. So technically there is a mention of it even if it is not written in the article. Either way it will probably come to North America sooner or later like Batman: Arkham Asylum GoTY Edition.
Thinking of picking up AC2 but I've never played AC1.. Is it necessary?
Not really. Especially if you look up a quick primer on the first title.
Thinking of picking up AC2 but I've never played AC1.. Is it necessary?
It really isn't necessary unlike with Mass Effect 2 (well its my opinion that everybody should play the first game before playing the second).

The first game has its flaws and can be very frustrating at times. The benefit of playing the first one would be to know the story and also to appreciate everything that Ubisoft improved on in the sequel.

I played Mass Effect 2 without playing the first one and agree it's one you'd definitely benefit a lot from playing the first one.

Although, I did research into the first one first. Spent about an hour reading up on the back story and I didn't feel like I was missing out on that much as a result.

You mean Prince of Persia:There's a movie coming out based on a game, so here's another game :)

I'd bite on ACII but the first was a bit... Boring. I want to see if there's a demo on PSN for this before buying. It'll probably be this price everywhere in a couple of months anyway.

If you play the Mass Effect 2 "New Game" then you get the worst storyline you can possibly get. I recommend that you pick up Mass Effect 1 and play it through and then import it to Mass Effect 2. Trust me you will enjoy the benefits and when Mass Effect 3 comes out you will probably be glad you did.

I would recommend trying Assassin's Creed 2 since it isn't as repetitive as the original game and Ubisoft made some excellent changes. The controls are also a million times better. I think that $20 for Assassin's Creed 2 is really a bargain.

Mass Effect 1 is a fantastic experience. For the price you can get it at, if you haven't already, it is a terrific buy.

Put simply, Mass Effect 2 is a waste without having played through, and carried over your character from, ME1. The amount of enjoyment of ME2 is significantly, substantially better. Without the knowledge of ME1 you'd be wasting one of the best games in a while.

Don't spoil (and I mean that in multiple ways) ME2 by skipping ME1. I am very adamant on this point. Also, the more time you put into ME1, exploring, side quests, etc, the more you get out of ME2.

It's one of the best series I've played in a decade and I'd hate to see people waste it.

AC II has shipped close to 9 million copies. So the $20 price point is either an attempt to sell alot of languishing stock or Ubi realizing that at this point they can make more money selling for cheap than waiting for the three people who dont yet know they want AC II to buy it at close to full price.

If I hadn't already completed it I would buy it at that price, fun game.

It's because the game is from Ubisoft. The game got a few sales at $40, $30 and I believe $10. The game is great, I bought it at full price and finished it within the week for the Gaming Guarantee. I enjoyed it so much that I used the money from the trade-in to buy the Collector's Edition for the awesome Ezio statue. And then traded AC2 for $40 + the extra $20 for some Power Trade.

Well you'll never know since you obviously played the first one. I don't feel like I'm missing out on that much by only having played the second one. The main reason I didn't is simply the time commitment. I have a hard enough time committing 20 hours to a game, never mind 30, 40 or more. For me it was either play the second only or not play it at all. I'm glad I decided to play the second one. Great game.

I would still recommend playing the first game because (there is a spoiler below for those who have not played Mass Effect).

If you did not play Mass Effect 1 and import your save then you get the ending from Mass Effect 1 where you killed the council and the game forces you to have Udina as the new Councilor. If you imported your save then you could have chosen to have Anderson as the Councilor.

This way you could have become a Specter again if you choose to in Mass Effect 2. Even if you did save the Council in the ending of ME1 and then choose to have Udina as the Councilor you once again can still choose to get your Specter status re-instated.

I think this is very important because it will probably have a big effect in Mass Effect 3.

Also Wrex is dead which sucks because Wrex is awesomeness in a box. The Rachni Queen was probably also killed (and she will probably help you in Mass Effect 3). You did not have a romance and it has been said that if you cheat on your love interest from ME1 in ME2 then it will have consequences and the opposite if you didn't cheat on him/her.

Also when I first saw Garrus revealed as Arch Angel in ME2 I was yelling at the TV with joy. I was so happy he was back and that is the reason why I am so happy I played ME1 first was because of my emotional connections to the characters.

Basically the import save file has garbage choices, and if you plan on playing Mass Effect 3 I still urge you to play Mass Effect 1 even if it takes you years. However, if you do not mind not having your own choices being made then that is fine.
Shoppers May 22-24 only

Duracell branded Eneloops 4xAA $7.77

Buy that and/or the Dell charger for $21.99 and you're set for batteries!

Thanks for this! Picked some up tonight!

I saw they had a Nintendo stand with DSi/lite and other items at the shoppers i was at today. I haven't seen any shoppers around here carry that sort of thing before. Hopefully the rest of the stores around here will start to carry those and the playstation items in the fall. That way when they have the cash in your points deals i'll be set! I also noticed that had a special on the DSlite where you cash in 40k points and get it for $40.

Yeah, Shoppers Drug Mart. Maybe some older stores don't have those batteries, but any new larger format store should have them. You're looking for the Duracell "pre-charged" batteries with the white tops. Those are Duracell branded Eneloops. They're 7.77 May 22-24, and then 9.99 the rest of the week.

although Mass Effect 2 is still one of my favourite games this gen Assassin's Creed II still holds the title for a most improved sequel of the whole gen in my mind

the total repetitive mess that was ACI was refined, polished and made excellent for ACII

I'd recommend the 2nd one to anyone. I actually just beat it the other day putting over 12 hours into it doing various things.

Okay thanks, I'll give it a look next time I'm out. I could definately use a couple packs. I have some really old ones (that I used in my original Xbox controllers) that are starting to finally die off on me.
