I'd like a cheaper edition sans all the crap.

Jumped on this. Considering it's $35+taxes/S&H from GS used even and $50 new for a game as good as this, it's worth it. They'll probably release a standalone like Agarest War for $30 later on but this still seems decent until that happens.

For reference, Agarest War is now $25 used from GS. I managed to discount it down to $18 and change with all of the coupons floating around and EDGE. Oddly enough, even though it was $24.99 (before discounts), it still managed to get the free saver shipping applied too (and my order was below that even).

Yeah, this is pretty damn old. It was actually $38 for a little bit too, but this is definitely old news.
