GOG.com is obviously out to set the Black Friday deals scene on fire, and really get in there and compete with the likes of Steam, with a huge sale on...the Age of Wonders series.

Well, alright, it's not exactly huge or site-wide or as exciting as 12-packs of giftable games or whatever, but these are FANTASTIC old games (some of my personal favs...I sunk so many hours into AoW1), right here. Fans of Heroes of Might & Magic, Civilization, Warlords, Lords of Magic, Master of Magic, or other turn-based strategy games in general (and with a fantasy theme in particular) who missed out on these back in the day would be doing themselves a major disservice if they didn't check these out now, since they're some of the best in the genre, if you ask me.

50% off if you buy all 3 (or complete your collection, if you already own one or two of them), or 30% off on one. Deal lasts until Monday, November 29 at 11:59 PM EDT.

Yeah, $13 for 3 old games might seem like a hard sell in the face of Steam's incredible, gobsmacking, jaw-dropping 5-for-$5 indie packs (made up of games that are regularly $10-20 each) that are running this week, but these are some classics here, and they just don't make 'em quite like this anymore.

Here's the link again. Enjoy:

I didn't realize these were turn based. I think I'm going to get all three.

At least if my 'puter doesn't die first. I just had to hard reboot it after it froze on a new Windows install...NEVER seen NT do that, so it's probably a piece of hardware dying :(

Oh really, you can do that? That would be really fun! I wish I knew someone who would give that a shot...they're so cheap too, no big deal for a friend to buy a copy to try it out.

I like your moxie, kid. Good sell. I had always assumed Age of Wonders was an RTS, since it sounds so much like AoE and AoM. I like turn based games (Warlords II was an old fav).

Yeah, exactly, I always thought it was an RTS too. I can't say my interest is really more or less now...I was kind of interested before, and still pretty interested. Plan on buying it as soon as I stop being lazy and find my credit card

Wolfpup's To-Do List:
1. Backup critical PC files.
2. Purchase Age of Wonders Trilogy

(perhaps not in that order)

They are pretty much unabashed Master of Magic clones more than anything else. Especially the third one (IIRC, the previous two didn't let you build cities anywhere you wanted).

Are these games very different from games like Heroes of Might and Magic or Disciples? I love turn-based strategy games but I have Disciples II and HoMM 5 on my backlog. Just wondering if this offers anything much different to those two.
