Please, do not laugh at my PC hardware.
I recieved my current PC as a college graduation gift 6 yrs ago this May.
PCI-E 1st generation, was still two year away and AGP at the time, was king.
I KNOW, get a new PC!
But $$$ is short and $1000 for a new gaming PC is harder to come by.

So I am left again with upgrading my old AGP video card once more. Hopefully for the last time.

My question, is there a better graphics card for the AGP interface than the NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT 512 MB?

Thank you for your honest feedback.

First off $1,000 is quite a lot to spend on a PC. Most ppl that I have seen on this board have not spent that much. Personally, I have spent under $200 for my rig but I know where to go, how to haggle and when to jump on online deals. There are plenty of guides in this forum that are well under $1,000.

HOW MUCH EXACTLY DO YOU HAVE TO SPEND?

Have you tried Craiglist? Many people give away PCs all the time on there. I know for certain because the children center where I volunteer at lives and breathes off of donate machines like that.

IMHO, save up the money and buy a new computer. Upgrading an AGP card is kind of pointless. You can definitely spend maybe twice the amount of a newer AGP card into a decent new computer.
